    Deer Stand Dimensions

Looking to build a stand soon. I'll start a DIY thread but need to know what works well for size, especially height and window heights. Thinking 4x8 for the size, keeps from splitting a sheet. open to thoughts.

I’ve been building 4x6 last couple years to keep from splitting. I now want that extra foot. Next time they will be 5x6.

A 4'-0" wide stand gets tight quick when you have kids!

I would build a 6x8. split one sheet, and no waste.

Does cost $40 more than6x8 but you can turn from side to side to shoot

          Don’t have to roll

6x6 if you are bow hunting out of it.

I built a hexagon had to trim 6 inches per sheet but it’s 6 ft across and has lots of room. You do have to cut 6 inches per sheet but you’ll live the stand

I usually hunt in a blind with 2 people. The perfect size for one to 2 people is 6x6. If you get bigger its hard to see out of all the windows without moving around to look. 6x6 is big enough that two people can sit and move comfortably. Just my experience.

                  I have a 6' x 8' and there is plenty of room for 3.

5x6 are perfect with 2 people. 4’ with any shelf is too tight imho.

                    I’ve done windows @ 40” and 38” to bottom and I prefer 38”

5x7’ seems like it’d be perfect. I built a 4x6’ a few years back and while it’s great for yourself, it’s juuust a little too tight for 2 people with guns and gear. That extra foot in each direction would allow you to stretch your legs and a little bit of extra room for backpacks and such.

For bow hunting, nothing smaller than a 6’ cube for me.

Tired of constantly bumping into everything

For a rifle, the same applies.

I like to sit for long periods. A 4’ deep blind you cannot stretch your legs out. I’ll not build one smaller than 6x8 for two people.

I built a really nice 4 x 6 and I kick myself for not building it bigger every time I get in it
