There's a story, no a testimony (mine) behind my favorite Christmas "song"... In April of 1973, I was in the Middle East and had a few days off. My buddy who was with me on ship hired a Norwegian exchange student to take us around the Holy Land for a couple days... We visited the town of Bethlehem and went to the traditional site of "The Manger" where Mary laid baby Jesus when He was born... It is a place that is under ground now and has a very low ceiling. Being 6'4" at the time, I was somewhat humped over but listening attentively to our guide as he spoke. there were 4 or 5 other tour groups, large and small there at the same time doing similar things. At one point all talking ceased. No one said, let's do this or that, but all at once everyone in the place started to sing Silent Night and it was in at least 4 or 5 different languages... That's when I personally finally realized, that this stuff is real. I've seen physically where Biblical events happened the past 2 days. I've read about them in the Bible, learned about them in Sunday School... This is REAL... In my own way, right then and there, I became a believer and was given a new heart.
Silent Night has a very special meaning for me. It gave me the desire to WANT to believe.
