Who all prefers hunting by themselves ? I find myself not wanting to take anyone and that some of my best memories are hunting alone.

I like the act of hunting alone, but I like hanging out at the camp with friends and family more than the hunt itself.

Talking specifically hunting …

For the most part, I like to hunt alone. With friends over, I feel the need to go out of my way to show them a good time and put them on the animals. It ends up putting a damper on my own hunting. Struggling to wake people up in the AM, repeated "SHHH!" as we're trying to make a stealthy entrance ,trying to get them situated in their stands, getting to my set up late, etc.

I'm no hunting expert and have a hard enough time being successful on my own. There are few people (2) I go through the effort of inviting. One of which sleeps with me Lol

As far as just being out there and enjoying the ranch or lease, the more the merrier.

I dont mind it at all. If its lease hunting with stands, I like the company. But if its hard hunting and spot and stalk, I want to be solo.

I like taking people on their first hunts, its a special moment I can help them with. I try to take one or two new hunters every year for does.

I've found that if I take any other hunter hog, coyote, or deer hunting I end up never getting an invite to their lease. Hence why I hunt by myself 99% of the time.

I mostly hunt alone. But, I hunt almost exclusively public land, so thereís often not good double setups. It is t uncommon for me to move an hour and a half if I donít get movement on a property. Not a lot of hunting partners that flexible.

It depends really on the type of hunting.

If I’m hunting in Texas, in stands and at a camp it is nice to have someone to share the fire with after the day is done.

If I’m backpacking into the backcountry, solo all the way so that all the successes and failures fall on me and only me. Plus there’s something about being alone in the vast wilderness you can’t get anywhere else.

I do prefer to hunt on my own, however my son is now 10 and has been tagging along with me on some hunts, and the older he gets the more he is in tow. I am more then happy to take him, but I also need to hunt with just me and the Lord. I get more out of being in the woods then just watching deer, and have found it to be a safe place of refuge and sanity.

Dove hunting me and my cousins get together and tear it up. But I guess for me it’s different everywhere I hunt is at the furthest a hour from the house. So I get up I go. I mostly predator hunt these days and honestly with all the miles and time I put in I guess I’m selfish about it. But it’s mostly cause I don’t want to wait on anyone, I want to hunt how I want to hunt, and I don’t want the pressure of just having someone with me I guess.

I can't say I completely prefer it, but I certainly enjoy it. Thankfully the buddies I do hunt with, typically all hunt the same way so when we do hunt together we pretty much have the same intentions and ideas. My favorite part about being solo and solo trips is not questioning who is going to shoot and going at whatever pace I want. Sometimes it's hauling *** the hillsides and other time I might spend an hour to just sit and soak it in.

It's more fun to have other people in camp but when I'm actually hunting I prefer alone. One of the main reasons I hunt is the heightened sensory effect and the way my mind clears. It's also why I prefer bowhunting out of a tripod or tree stand. I have a t-shirt that shows a bow hunter in a nice setting with "gone thinking" printed on it, my sentiments exactly. If I have someone else next to me it's like a radio is playing.

I hunt Bow season alone. When gun season opens thatís when I start taking the kids. Unless theyíre not at least a day ahead in their school work. If theyíre not ahead in school work then Iíll go by myself.

Iím so addicted to taking others and especially guiding kids that I can barely remember hunting by myself. A wife and 3 boys that hunt, adds to that. Quite honestly itís been years since Iíve shot a deer myself, always leave em for someone else to get. Started thinking the other day that I need to sneak off to the turkey woods by myself this year a couple times.

Easy to manage and get things done the right way when you do it solo, but i have places that i hunt with a group and its more fun. One way produces bigger deer and the other produces more entertainment

I hunt to be as close and connected as I can to the natural order that my forbears lived for hundreds of thousands of years. I also hunt to be as far away from man and society/civilization as possible. Its a spiritual rite to me. I hunt alone. Hiking does this for me as well. Connected in the woods.

mostly hunt alone but love it when my boys can go to. Been on several of the TXPW draw hunts, pretty cool to meet new folks that love to hunt. Otherwise, found that its pretty rare to find another hunter that shares all your same views and ethics though so is why I tend to solo mostly.

I do. Feels like i'm more flexible and can come and go as I please and I hate seeing other people cold, bored, sleepy, etc. And I feel responsible for other people's failure if it doesn't go well.

If it's just me, an "unsuccessful" hunt is just a peaceful quiet weekend.

I deer and hog hunt alone. Unless my son goes with me or it's a day hunt type of thing.. but 90% of the time it's just me . Same with fishing.. I don't feel the pressure of putting someone on fish or in a position to kill something.

If there is a certain animal I am after or I am wanting to just get away from people in general I enjoy hunting alone. About 90% of the hunting I have done in the past 10 years or so has been alone and I have enjoyed every bit of it except for being camped out alone and passing my first kidney stone. I have had places to go but not necessarily the permission or authority to take whoever I wanted with me. I am not one that imposes on people and their property and invites everyone I know and their dog to go with me somewhere just because I was told I could go hunting. Crap like that really ticks me off and is extremely disrespectful in my eyes. The past couple years the more I drive to the property or places I hunt and camp out alone, cook alone, work alone, eat alone, hunt alone, have successful hunts alone the more I would like to have a hunting buddy with me. I recently got my brother in law into shooting and hunting and as well as my girlfriend and I find more happiness and joy working with them and teaching them and reveling in their success. Granted when the buck I want is around I would rather hunt alone or make it KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT that if he walks out he is mine lol!!!!

All the time, fishing too, I usually make a call two to see if anyone wants to go but never let let it stop me if they don’t, if I get the urge to do something I do it, probably one of the reasons I’m not married anymore, the exes birthday was in late December, 28th if memory serves right, and I pretty much spend every year down in south Texas from Christmas through New Years, she’d find something to complain about regardless so might as well be hunting, oh well like George always said, vaya condios, easy come easy go

I used to hunt alone most of the time. Nowadays, if I hunt I am usually with one of my sons or grandkids, or old friends. Don't care much to hunt alone anymore. If I am alone, I usually just get on the tractor and get some work done. Of course, I'll strap on a pistol in case of varmints.

I used to a lot, elk and muley hunting the high country with just a cpl of horses.
I had a friend in Alaska we used to sort of hunt together, fly out on the same plane and then split up and head out separate ways until it was time to fly out.

Nothing is better than laying in you sleeping bag at night watching the northern lights listening to the wolves howl

I hunt alone, I’ve managed to get a couple of my daughters to come along for a sit. I’m hoping in time as they get older they’ll wanna come along but I’m not holding my breathe. I haven’t hunted with anyone else in the same blind or over the same area. I do enjoy the company when the hunt is over back at camp, but it’s been a few yrs since I’ve been on a place where that has happened. Wife and girls don’t really enjoy it but they tag along occasionally to appease me, but I know they’d rather be at home.

Got on a new lease for upcoming season so I’m hoping the new place with new guys will bring with it new memories around camp after the hunt of course.
