I know you might not want to hear this, but I have several years of experience with 3D printing and I would not recommend it for this application. I think you'll end up spending way more time and/or money than you'd like trying to create a component that you won't be happy with. Part tolerances and material properties won't create something you're happy with unless you're looking to spend some money getting it made from a shop with an expensive machine.
