Default Boaris! (if u know, u know)!

Talk about a s**tshow.

Me & the grandkids took Boaris for a stroll this eve.

https://youtu.be/q7Xi0KOciPg

Newish neighbor came up on us w his stray pit (dumped out in our area bout a yr ago) in the truck. Good guy, but cityboy from H-town.

Dog was in cab so no problem. Neighbor knows Boaris and stopped to pet/take pics of him. Dog got fussy but no big deal.

After they went on up their drive (150 yds) we continued on past.

Well... the dog wasn't done. A few minutes later I hear yelling and screaming. Here comes the dog, owner chasing on foot.

1st thing I did was get the kids up in the mule.

Boaris threw her around the first 30 seconds. BAD. Cutters would've killed the pit. But... its a pit. Boaris wore out and tried to retreat but she finally caught hold.

Kids were terrified/bawling. The neighbor was doing his ****dest but to no avail.

I crabclawed the dogs throat til she finally let loose/bout passed out. The neighbor held her while we retreated to the house.

Boaris was bleeding profusely from top of the snout/roof of mouth.

He made it home and bailed into his pool. After a few minutes he ate his supper Ethan brought him then retired to his pighouse.

But..... when I took off on the mule a bit later, he was right beside me, lol. Didnt learn.

I called the neighbor to make sure they were ok. He said the dog is pretty banged up and may have a broke leg.

He texted me a bit ago to check on Boaris.

We're planning on beers in my driveway tomorrow eve.

I told him to leave the dog at the house!

Man, thats not a good situation. Definitely something that would change a neighbor relationship for some.

Unfortunately the dogs reaction is probably when it was dumped off in your area. That is just a horrible first owner that created that. I have owned many pits and non fit the stereotype many have put on them.

Glad to hear all humans are safe and animals are healing.

Boaris continues to amaze.

But it won't be on the road near their driveway. Or at least not w me there.

His "walks" are limited to the pasture.

And if it happens on my property, the neighbor won't be as happy. Not cause of a pet pig. But simply because of an aggressive dog on my property.

Buddy brings his dog over regularly. Boaris don't bother it unless it bothers him. And that dogs too small to be a threat and generally leaves him alone.

I wouldn't bat an eye if the situation was reversed, on his property.

Hopefully all is over with and well.

I agree. But dogs either run like hell from now on after an ordeal like that, or they can't wait to try again...and pitts generally can't wait to try again.

I had a shorthair who loved chasing rabbits, until a rabbit ran full steam through a hogwire fence that she didn't see. She ran from rabbits till the day she died.

My uncle had her full brother, he attacked a skunk when he was young and got the full treatment. He never missed a chance to kill a skunk from then on. That dog ALWAYS stunk!

Love me some Boaris! We had a bristle back boar, Wilbur, for 4 yrs and he was the best pet the kids ever had. He would let them ride him, pull his ears, whatever. One of my nephews had an RC car, and I would chase him with it. Boy that was FUNNY! But you never could flank that dude with that car! He was full on wild, solid black, long snout, big in the front, smaller in the hind quarters, long hair, and with bout a 4-5” “razorback”. He wasn’t penned up, would just stay at the house in the shade in his woller until he wanted to go and feed with the cows. He’d just stay in with them like he was one of em. My wife would holler for him when she had scraps, and he’d come on a run for momma! He always stayed at the house unless he was with the cows. People that didn’t know we had one would be scared to death when they’d pull up, and he’d come out from behind the house letting out them hog “huffs”! Heck of a guard dog! We had several people stop and ask could they shoot that wild hog in our pasture. Course we’d say no, and explain the situation. The neighbors loved him too, and said we needed to get him a bright colored collar to keep him from getting killed. My daughters had a better idea and got some blaze orange spray paint and painted Wilbur on one side and Schulz on the other. Course he just laid there and let em do it. When my daughters did show pigs the vet said be sure and keep the show pigs away from him, cuz he might be carrying “wild diseases” they couldn’t handle. Well, he’d go visit the pigs pen several times a day talking to them in hog-ese, and basically prob poking fun at them cuz they were penned up and he was free as the wind! Well one of the show pigs had a cough/snotty nose, and it gave it to Wilbur in one of his visits, and the sucker died a few weeks later. So guess it was the other way around! Good memories for sure! Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

Glad your pet is ok. I’d keep a close eye on the dog. My neighbor has a pit that has been almost killed by big boars twice. In my backyard, one held her under water til my neighbor walked up and shot the hog, point blank. She had $1500 worth of stitches from that one. The other one, broke almost half her teeth on one side when his cutters slammed through her mouth. She still catches every swine that wanders close to their house.

I'm pretty sure that aint her 1st tussel w a hog.

Ol Boaris seems alot better today. He was pretty sluggish yesterday.

It definately sounds like that dog had some experience. Way back in college, I did an internship on an embryo transfer research ranch. Those ranch hands were passionate about running hogs with dogs. Their catch dogs were pit mixes and those suckers could sure latch on to a hog's nose and take it down. Glad Boaris is ok. Following yall's/his adventures is highly entertaining.
