I guess it is like the old saying goes- "to each his own!" For me personally i love watching high school football, college football, March Madness tournament and women's college softball. I do not however like watching baseball. I will watch the ladies play regionals, super regionals and the World Series religiously. I have two athletic sons- one played some college football and the other is a successful power lifter. That being said- I have no daughters but I feel that the young ladies are super talented, athletic, highly spirited, competitive and a Joy to watch! To each his own.

Did someone say Fouts 17 K's?
Maya Brady aka Tom Brady's niece goes yard in World Series as a freshman and is voted as an All American.

Thanks. The miles they have log during the summer seems very exhausting. Lots of work for the parents as well. We are proud and excited for her.

Yes sir. Have logged many of those miles and spent many of those dollars myself

My daughter took a step back this summer to a smaller organization that will only play in state this summer most likely. The team she was on was planning on playing in five states in two months - kinda rough on the parents

As a dad that spends a lot of time on a bucket catching my 16 year old who is throwing around 60..I can say at that speed when and fact that can make it break in / out / up/ and god forbid down(i hate drop balls). It is very easy to end up with some nasty bruises. I like changeup days... that 42 mph changup is a lot easier to catch and can make batters look stupid.

The Change up is a very underrated pitch. I think it is an extremely effective pitch to help "add' velocity to the fastball and really keep batters off balance, especially for younger pitchers. Especially with less arm strain.
Too many younger pitchers try to throw too many movement pitches that may not really move enough and can cause injuries. A good change up can really keep batters off balance.

Fouts pitches a perfect game on her 21st Birthday! It hadn’t been done in over 20 years. Bama wins 6-0 with 14k’s. If she keeps this up Bama could win it all! Unless James Madison says no we are going to continue to upset everyone!

I donít know how anyone beats bama with fouts in the circle! Just bringing it. That rise ball at 74-75 and then comes back with a 57mph rise , just nasty and every batter is off balance

My daughter is a pitcher, been playing since she was 4 and is now 17. Recently committed to a Juco , hoping for a bigger offer this summer if things go well but they offered a full ride so hard to pass up.
We are in college station now playing a tournament, she gets the start today for the 3:00 game.
The game is incredible and I love it. I canít even bare to watch baseball and I have a son who is a hell of an athlete since that seems to matter some how.
The speed of the game is ridiculous. Fouts pitching the equivalent of 105mph in baseball!
Girls on the corners taking line drives from a slapper at 30 feet , most guys would be too scared to even get that close to a batter
More strategy ala slapping and bunting

If you donít understand the game it can look ugly, I went through that stage almost 25 years ago when I started following the game by way of my wifeís high school teams. After a few years I learned the game and then started coaching it. Iíd take a 12u softball team any day over a 12u baseball team. watching college baseball or softball? Not even close for me, like watching paint dry.

Agree to disagree. I can appreciate the nuances of softball and the skill of those girls is incredible, but I'll take a chess match pitching duel and 400 ft bombs all day over softball.

You sir obviously have never been to a really good softball game. When my daughter played college ball, I would rather watch those games than any MLB game.

You do know that some of the best hitters in MLB have tried to hit a softball from some college pitchers and have no luck connecting.

But, I'm one for not paying some knuckleheads salary.

The same girl couldn't hit a high school boys pitching much less Clayton Kershaw.

No I have never seen that. I have seen a high school girl striking out members of the football team. I also so Jennie Finch do it. Love her. She is amazing.

Softball offers the same pitching / hitting chess matches and 240 bombs with a softball are comaparable to a 400 ft bomb with a baseball. Games are very similar yet very different at the same time. To each their own.

Bama is going to be tough to beat . OU probably will get revenge in two games later today. So my prediction is bama and OU in finals and Bama winning it all but will go 3 games.

Update My daughters HS team (Rains) Just won the Texas 3A state title!
And she is now the 3A all state Pitcher!
Her stats for the year.
28-0
156 innings pitched
6 earned runs
13 walks
334 strikeouts
.269 ERA
Throws 61- 66 mph with tons of movement with a 45-47 mph change up.
Speed is great but it's all about the movement! her riseball is her strikeout pitch.
imagine seeing a 63mph curve in or out, or a screw, then a 46 mph change that freezes most batters then a riseball at 64-65 the change makes it look 70 mph.

I watch both but you can not compare the two athletically. That would be like mixed sex MMA fight or 100 yard dash.

I'm a fan of both because they do their own thing. I never liked watching women's basketball, tennis, swimming, golf, track and field, etc. because they are just slower, less athletic versions of the men's game. The thing that is so great about softball is that is is NOT baseball!
