Good luck gents. Killed my first javi out there several years ago. If you draw N Jay, I can point you to a good spot in the NW corner of it.

Pretty full room, looks like a lot of folks showed up for standby. We’re waiting for orientation, and will find out if my buddies group gets a spot. Ready to see what compartment we get.

Seems to be the norm. Getting harder and harder to draw a standby. I made three attempts for deer this year and struck out on all. To be fair, two shots were close to home and only pulling 1 and 2 cards each.

In the stand. We corned several areas, and set cameras out. Weíll probably scout more tomorrow midday, and possibly move stand sites. Hereís my spot for tonight.

My buddy shot a young male Javi this evening, saw two others taken too. Just finished off dinner, and contemplating sitting by the fire. That wind sure is cold, not sure if it’s worth it, trailer sure is warm.

I wouldnt waste too much time in a blind, corn every road and sendero in your pasture then stalk the roads. Any low spots in the road or drainages will usually catch them first. But once they find corn you can’t hardly fight them off it.

I wouldn't stay in camp long they can come out any time of the day.

As stated above, corn lots of road and just ease along by foot or truck checking your spots.

Shoot them yotes and keep the picutes coming.

On a management hunt a few years ago I felt like Moses parting the Red Sea. I had already taken a javi and upon leaving on the second evening I had 50 plus on the sendero that I had to walk though to get to my truck. It was near dark and I was throwing rocks and sticks which would just move them into the grass a few feet ahead of me. As I passed them they came right back to the corn. Hair raising event but one awesome memory.

Man hate hearing this. Between some guys I know, and myself, we drew standby every year on this hunt from around 1985-2016. There was never a year when anyone got turned away. It was an annual trip with no worry about not being drawn. Ever since the Chap has created the Facebook page, and posting everything, it hasnít been the same. It was good while it lasted.

Agreed...also think the warthogs have a bearing on the standby count.
