Well, as fun as sitting 20’ up in a little ladder stand with30 MPH winds sounds, it’s just not for me.
I bailed and went to the Krivoman. We brought it specifically for bad weather situations and I’m gonna put it to use.

Just caught up. Great thread and thanks for getting it so well updated. Hunting a week of all day sits is tough, let alone 2.5 weeks. How much caffeine you inhaling a day?

Wind was blowing here all day but don't think it ever got to 30

So many leaves falling this morning a doe nearly snuck by behind me and something else was behind her. Think it was a buck but was in the briars and brush and I never got any kind of a look other than enough hair to know it was a deer

Hope you get a good one

See you posted while I was typing, better luck tomorrow for you hopefully

Headed in to the 250 acre property. Kade saw 2 shooters with Does yesterday when he left. One of them being Perch Hook.
Hunting the same creek bottom I hunted Mid-day, 2 days ago. I haven’t hunted this spot in the morning or evening.
I’ll be at this property till dark.
West wind and 32 deg. Wind is waaaaay calmer than yesterday evening.

Hang with me! I’m trying to make it happen.

Man I thought I had it wrapped up. Shooter 10 point was skirting the North side of the creek. Hit a few grunts and got his attention. He never would cross the creek, but followed it all the way around me till he got my wind.

Same young 8 that I had here Friday at noon and a small 6 about 10 minutes apart.
If only they 10 would have used the same trail.

We are definitely in lock down here in Iowa. There are a few bucks still cruising, but it has slowed up. I saw a big buck with a doe yesterday evening. He was limping real bad but was steadily staying with the doe. A buddy of mine watched a 8 point breed a doe 3 times over an 8 hour period while he was on stand. He said they never moved over 20 yards during that time. Lock down is historically the 12th thru the 16th here give or take a day or so.

I got down at 9:30. The wind is insane here.

Good luck to you Heith !!

Update...
No movement between 9:00-10:30.

I sat here all morning debating on hunting thru Wednesday. Today is my 15th day on a deer stand and honestly I’m pretty tired. I decided to get down and go pack up. I just got back on the stand. So this will be my last 6 hrs to get it done. I have zero regrets. I know everything can change in a second. We’ve seen that scenario unfold multiple times this week and last. I’ve hunted with 2 of the best guys I know in the last 15 days. Watched them both take in the pain of losing their personal best buck and watched 1 get over the pain by killing an even bigger buck the very next day. It’s definitely been a roller coaster of events and I’m a blessed man for getting so much time to invest in something I’m passionate about.
Two years ago I killed my Kansas buck in the last 4 hrs of my last hunt so I’m not ruling anything out.
I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support and comments and mostly for just taking the time to read and keep up with my live hunt. It’s something I enjoy doing every year up here.
So here we go with the last hoorah!

As I was walking back to the stand, I caught movement in a drain ditch. A small 8 was bedded down. He never moved. Just watched me as I walked by. Pretty neat experience. He wasn’t 15 yards from me.
It’s warmed up to 56 degrees and the wind is still of the West with a touch on North in it.
I’ll sit here till 2:30-3:00 and make a swap to a ladder stand on the North part of the property.

Made the move to the set on the North end of the property.
Iím in a tall ladder stand that is set in a row of Cotton Woods. There is a Milo field North of me, and a big pond that over flows in to the drainage that these cotton woods grow in.

South of me there is a ton of waist high CRP & an old tram that runs East and West and it serves as a major bedding area for this property.
Deer travel North & South to and from the bedding on the West side of the tree line.
We have a lot of pics of Perch Hook at this spot.
My wind is perfect.
Trying to make it happen this evening.

Wide main frame 11 pnt.
3 yr old deer. Should be a stud in 2 years.
He is a fighter. Lip is split. Ear is bloody. Left main beam broke off right past his G4.
