They have a lot of deer, but it’s a hard place to hunt. I bet the success rate on a nice buck is probably around 10-15 percent.

I haven't hunted there in a while, but the success rate was about 5% when I went.

We went weekend before last and didn't see any traffic while we were there. There was some cussing in Spanish every time I got stuck by those pinche cactus.

                Are the deer moving?

My daughter and I saw some young bucks, a longhorn spike, a doe or two and some pigs. Others saw deer as well. I don’t believe anyone saw any monsters but man did that big old 8-point cull from the week before look nice!

How do the pastures work there? We are heading in for a trip in a couple weeks and have never hunted there before. I know smart deer, brush in well, etc., but just wondering how they determine your area to hunt

Bo will assign you a pasture when you arrive there.

N.DaWoods......If you ask Bo, he'll also give you direction on where to set up and what he's been seeing on the corn route.

Another "tip"......when you make your 'ONE" shooting hole, if you will hang one or two mesquite leaves in the hole, it will help break up the hole and you can shoot right through it.

Don't leave any cut ends of your brush facing the road. I always rubbed mud or dirt on the ends.

THEY WILL NOTICE the hole and the cut limbs.

Also, I always used two or three dove decoys on the outside of my brushed in area. Mike Palmer taught us that years ago and it works.

Good luck and be aware of that wind!!
