Puerto Rico- Things to do, Places to see??

Next week my company has a work conference in Puerto Rico. My wife is going to join me and this will be our first time to the island.

Are there any things we must do or places we need to go with our free time?

The tarpon fishing is very good down there if that is your thing.

Been a minute since I was there but there is a 1,000 lb marlin that broke my heart and my line after a nearly 2 hour fight. So if you’d do me a favor, go catch him. Take a short trip over to Mt Nevis too if you like solitude and God’s awesome creation.

Castillo de San Cristobal or El Morro. Either one. Really cool to see. Take a flashlight. There are some rooms out on the grounds you can go down into and explore. But there's no electricity hence the flashlight. While you're there eat a mofongo. But take some ragin blaze with you as they usually tend to not use enough spices for a Texan's palate. When you come back you can tell people you ate that mofo!

Charter a small plane to flamenco beach for the day. Beautiful and less crowded.

How did you arrange this? I checked it out and this is right up my wife’s alley.

I’d love to do some fishing but between the work conference and stuff I don’t think I’ll have the time to fit it in.

It’s been about 15 years since I was there. The El San Juan Hotel and Casino in Isla Verde was pretty nice. About a mile away there is an open air pizza joint on the corner. They have awesome pizza by the slice. Don’t remember the name though

I was there with some insurance consultants after the hurricane a few years ago and we ended up eating at a place called "Marmalade". Not the kind of place I would have picked out, but the food was awesome. It is in San Juan.

Totally depends on your budget. Can either charter a plane of take the ferry. Either way, probably want to rent a car or golf cart upon arrival. Make sure to pack your own cooler before going.

Please feel free to PM me. Family is there, we go regularly, and can hopefully point you in the direction to were you enjoy the island as much as we do.

Reach out to Magic Tarpon if you change your mind, not sure how busy they are this time of year but maybe they can work you in

It’s been 45 years since we were there but, as mentioned above, the old San Juan hotel is/was beautiful and El Morro is very interesting.
