Here is the baby formula section at target near my house. Yeah. It’s bad. A guy was on Rokslide yesterday asking for someone to help him find what his kiddo has been using. Members ended up finding two kegs of power for him. One from Hawaii and one from Oregon I believe. I also have a close friend that’s having a hard time as well. And their baby is on a specific type because she has acid reflux bad.

Abbott the makers of Similac had a recall in late February. (Research it for details) They also have the primary WIC contract in Texas. So between that and the lingering impacts from COVID, inventory is very limited right now. Most manufacturers have reduced the number of items they are producing to focus on key items. Every retailer and every supplier in the US is dealing with this.

Something is wrong with the math in the recipe. The ingredients come to 35 oz and it calls for 4 oz in each bottle (24 oz). What happens to the other 11 oz?

Yes it is a pain. My 9 month old is nearly done with it praise the lord. It’s been tough the last few months, really bad right now, particularly in San Antonio. We have gone through 6 different formulas with her now, all due to availability. I managed to source enough wal mart brand to get her to 11 months. Will put her on whole milk at that point if we can’t find more to get her to the full 1 year.

Its bad we have had to start ordering it on Amazon and takes 2 to 3 weeks to deliver.. Sometimes we go to 5 or 6 places before we can find what we need.

My insurance covers formula luckily. $120 per 150 bottles of formula. We were definitely blessed when we had to have it.

It's bad, but not terrible. We are able to stay a few weeks or so ahead by buying online through Wal Mart, Target, Amazon, and Similac. You definitely aren't able to just pick some up on your weekly grocery run.

It's bad, I have 4 month old twins both needing a special hypoallergenic formula for reflux. I have a pretty good stock pile as I got worried a month or so ago about the shortage and bought all I could find, but it's just one more STUPID thing to worry about.

What funny about that is China's baby formula brands are pure crap. In fact that is one of the number one things they buy here in the U.S. and take back. But they are only allowed to bring one container back....which sells for a lot of money. They have a daily chain of mules who cross Shenzhen into Hong Kong and buy 1 container and bring it across..and repeat. It is a very profitable business. I have even done it (by request).

The recall was due to 'contaminants' being found in one of their factories. The Flint, Michigan factory. These contaminants are bad ones. There were also multiple reported illnesses and deaths due to these. I want to stress it was reported/suspected - I don't know if the illnesses/deaths have been proven as of yet. Regardless, yes the FDA is crawling up inside of them because of the potential health risks towards babies.

Reports I'm getting is that we should start to see some relief in mid-late Summer. This is assuming no additional delays, and the possibility for delays is endless.

We weren’t sure with my wife. Found out it was a brain tumor causing the issue.

The literature and push from doctors is not towards formula, it is towards the teet….
