Did a small search, but I got lazy so I figured I’d start a new post. I am curious at how far your bow stand s from the feeder? Please note if it’s ground blind, elevated blind or a ladder/tree stand. We are putting 2 new set ups together and we have plenty of options for tree stands. I would like 1-2 tree stands and one ground blind at each set up. I am curious what is too close? I’m leaning towards 20-28 yards per set up.

We’ve gone to 25 yards on most ladder / hang on spots. Shots aren’t any harder and that extra few yards makes a difference in terms of how wary the deer get (for me at least). Have some popup blinds that are 20, we have elevated all our popup blinds on 4 ft platforms

Two ground blinds, mine and my wife’s. Hers is 13 yards away, mine is 16.
Both are ASF EZ feeders so the corn is spread around pretty good. Neither deer nor hogs pay much attention to either blind. I had a young buck walk into the area within 5 yards of mine last year, gave me a quick glance and never looked again. I watched him and a good but also young buck for about 30 minutes that morning. |

If from a lean to/tripod/ ground blind where I’m more visible my sweet spot is 35-40 yards…. Krivoman or pop up 20-30 yards(closer to 30) I like the little extra freedom

17. Krivo about 2’ up. Less chances for me to screw up the shot. Pig spot is a popup at 20-21

Twenty yards never worked for us as the deer were uncomfortable at that range. Now most are 30-45 yards and they don't mind coming into the hand corn at 20. We use a combo of popups, tripods, and tree stands.

I shoot mostly traditional with no sights. At all of my setups, the feeder is 13yds from where I sis in my blind. I have been dabbling with a compound some lately, and I still like em real close.

For me, as high up as the tree allows, and 20 yards to the front of the feeder. I want the shot in between me and the feeder to match my 20 pin. I have 30 yard cairns set up also, so I know the range.

At my only set up where I can shoot into the pen the feeder is at 18 yards and I hand corn at 12. (Im a trad shooter) wind conditions have to be perfect. My blinds on the ground are on trails leading to the feeder

Agree with above, feeder at 30-35 with hand corn at 20-25. Deer are less jumpy at the feeder but will still work to the hand corn for an easier shot.

My two bow blinds are like 17 yards away from my stand and fill corn feeders. My timed protein are a little farther at 32 yards and I forget exactly on the other but I’m thinking around 40 away from my bow blinds.
My potbelly bow blind is elevated at 5 ft and my Krivoblind is on a short platform on 15” legs. |

A water trough near your feeder 20-30 yards away provides an additional permanent second attractant. Draw when the deer drops his head to drink. During high heat and drought, hunt midday as well if you don't mind sweating.

I set mine up about 20 yards from the stands. Pop ups tree stands and tripods. On my lease the bigger bucks won't come between the stand and the feeder . If I put the feeders farther than 20, it makes for a long shot on the bucks..

I shoot from a tripod and set up my feeder at approximately 20 yards. I practice at almost exclusively 20 yards and take shots at deer with a couple of yards (either side) of my feeder.

Mostly tripod sets. Tripods are 6 to 14 ft tall.
Feeder, hand corn or trail are less than 20 yards away. |

19-23 yards whether lock-on, ladder or ground blind. I put my stands at the height with the best cover between me and the deer. I have several that are 12-14 feet up with good cover.

I use a ladder stand nowadays. It’s up 15’ and it’s a 25 yard shot to the tree I have a feeder hanging on.

My tripods are within 100 yards of the feeders. One I can hand corn from 5-20 yards. The other I have a small window and maybe an 8 yard shot at max.

My feeders are roughly 15-20 yards from the blinds. Couple other spots are on trails with hand corn. Those are about 10-15 yards with the longest shot being 20. I like them close.

19-21 to the bottom of the corn feeder is what I go for with all setups. Seen people be successful at less and extremely unsuccessful at way more. Depends on the hunter and their knowledge more than anything. Know how the spot hunts in all conditions and when to make/not make your move.

I really like about 20, which means far side of feeder ends up being 25-30, near side, 16-18. I feel it helps a bit if you have to play side winds and with noise.

Closest I have is 12 yards when you factor in angle. That is not easy but it is one of my favorite stands. Average distance to feeders is a little over 20.

I tend to set up 35-50 yards off the feeder, then hand corn them in to 10 yards, shooting trad equipment.
