Default Who's got a secret hunting room?

Ok, my wife knows but never goes in. So it's not that secretive. And yes I have mounts inside the house. I've just run out of wall space. Thankfully, she has no idea what's in the safe.

That’s awesome I think once all the kids leave the nest I’ll be using one of their rooms for a man cave.

Dammitt! Must be some STUD deer hanging in the house if those in the pic dont make the cut!

I put in a small 12x12 "hunting room" (climate controlled but not "finished out") in the back of the garage when I built my house last fall/this spring.
Planned on putting the big safe in it, along with all my hunting gear.
Well..... my stepson split w his baby mama so he and the 2 grandkids live w us.
They got the 2 xtra bed rooms. He got my hunting room.

If I had a "secret" room that she didn't know about how would it get clean?

AND if I were in there she might not know where to bring me a sammich or cold beverage!!

Iím in the process of picking windows and doors for my house so we will get started soon. Itís going to have a hidden gun room that is 16x7 in between the garage and one of the hallways. The entrance will be behind a book case probably in the hallway.

Will have 650 to 800 square foot bonus room upstairs for my mounts.

nailed it!

I took a mount down from the living room last year when a deer came back from the taxi. Couple weeks ago she comes in with a screw gun and a screw. You need to get that deer back on the wall.

6 deer and a goose in the living room. Her one and only shoulder mount deer is in the master

I used to have a bedroom that was my hunting room before having a kid. my wife kept her craft room, i gave up the hunting room. I still have the garage and my shop but thos are so dang messy the only thing i use them for is tool storage and my reloading bench and the garage has now been taken over with kids toys he no longer uses/too big for but we cant get rid of for some reason.

Mounts are in living room, safe is in the house etc. just nothing in one big room anymore

House came with an excercise room that became the gear and trip room, so I guess it's kind of like a secret room, as nobody would suspect I'm in there.
Just installed an airtight hidden door to a secret cigar/gun library with a little single lane pistol range today in a new home. I'll get a video or some photos once the granite is in and it's all done.
Did another one a few years back that was hidden in fancy wall paneling in a long hallway that concealed a vault door and the owner had a hard time finding it at first. Every one we've ever done, the owner is so excited they have to show it to everyone, which defeats the point.

Our installers have the cigar room on Instagram right now @rustic_elegance_fc
Iíd be happy to share what weíve learned. Tectus and Rixson are my go to hinges for swing out style doors. Swing in whenever possible is generally easier to conceal and use high quality interior door hinges. Everything is laid out and proven in CAD, then cut on the CNC, but could be done without all the equipment. Shoot me your number and Iíll be happy to help.
Youtube has a lot to offer and great inspiration, but it wonít prevent all the pitfalls.
