Default What's best auto battery for the $

What truck battery do you recommend for the money.

Have a Walmart battery but need a new one . Bought 08/2019 and just out of the 3 year free replacement .

I'm debating buying from Walmart, AutoZone or O Riley's

I just bought a continental battery from a small parts Napa etc and paid 170.00 ( 2 year warranty) for a tundra. You can probably beat that price.

I got 7 years out of a Ford OEM battery, then 6 years out of its identical replacement, and 4 so far from an Interstate that I doubt will last another 2 years.

You need to get you a battery charger. I charge the batteries on trucks I don’t use every day every once in a while. They usually Need it.

What symptoms led you to thinking battery was bad?

What vehicle?

There are good and bad batteries from EVERY source. My recommendation is to find a battery source that has stores all over where you normally go which makes changing them out down the road a LOT easier. Then buy you a good battery from them that comes with a 2 or 3 year free replacement.

OEM batteries do tend to last the longest. The longest lasting set I’ve ever dealt with were 13 years old when they were replaced. Factory International batteries on the school bus I used to drive. It was a 2007 model bus and the batteries lasted till 2020!

Ford OEM in my 17 and it's just now starting to lag a touch. It'll either get a Walmart, Sam's, or OEM when I buy another.

Wal Mart ... The last me 4-5 yrs . This year had to replace 4, but two in the truck and two in tractor. I always replace both at the same time and use the "good" one on the gate or cameras.

I've run interstate for years on my vehicles, 4 wheeler, and lawn mowers. I got tired of cleaning terminals, being told the corrosion was a Ford thing, and having batteries just go bad right after the full replacement warranty ran out leaving me to pay around $250ish with the help of prorated warranty for a new one.
I recently replaced the battery in my truck with an X2Power AGM battery from batteries plus bulbs. It was pricey, but comes with a full 48 month free replacement warranty. Last I checked, my terminals were as corrosion free as a new truck too...

Probably time to change factory Motorcraft batteries in my ‘19 F350 this winter. Will look at Interstate AGM. Tired of the acid damage.

Several years ago (maybe 25?) I was running a diesel and learned to take them in 2 months before the warranty ended and get them tested---worked every time--got a new battery from WM.

I know one thing, like everything else, battery prices are to the moon.

Optimum red top it’s the best battery I’ve used. Got it used from an uncle and it lasted close to 10 years after that. Went with interstate since that’s what we carry at work and battery happened to die on the way to work.

That interstate battery is less than 2 years old and is leaking acid. Battery looks like it’s been in the truck for 20 years. Also interstate is only 36 month warranty now

I’m probably wrong but almost all brand batteries that I’ve looked at are only good for a 36 month warranty

If you are just out of warranty, stop in and see if they have a prorated warranty. My motorcrafts did and I ended up paying half price for both batteries.

That said, I love my lithium antigravity battery, which wouldn't work in your application, but antigravity make really good AGM batteries that might work, and save some weight too.

A buddy works for a huge parts company in Houston. They carry numerous different name brands. He tells me they all send out duds and he does almost the same amount of sales as warranty's. He was selling me a new battery cause mine died 2 months after the warranty ended...

It would not crack, as soon as I put on my portable battery jump start it's cracks right away.

I just use truck for work , 7 miles one way then 7 miles back every day.

As soon as it gets cold I always start having trouble cracking vehicle on.

It did same thing last year around this time and same thing - they all tested battery and it was good to go. I think they charged fully that time and never had problems after they charged it until now, a year later

My truck is a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado with 74k miles

I'm a fan of buying at Batteries Plus.

They usually have the best price, and you get an extra $20 off for ordering online and then going to the store to get it. I'm picking on up for the Kubota CTL tomorrow. Duracell.

Optimas are not what they once were. Not a fan.

There a several posts here about warranty. You can, and I did buy their premium battery with a 5 year full replacement warranty.
