BWSSR had the boudain on point as well as those lizard legs! Shout out to Mrs. Odin for the gumbo! Great to see old friends even if it was a small group.

Enjoyed meeting all of you that I got a chance to. It was my first one and we plan on going back next year. I didn't get to try the ribs but the boudain, gator ,and gumbo were great.

Good getting to know you and hang out for a bit John B.

A big thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to my “Plus 1” and me at our first Bownanza. For those of you we had the pleasure of visiting with (we never did make it much past the GOF tent), we enjoyed the congeniality and comradery of your company. For those of you we didn’t get to meet, the regret, as well as the blame, is all ours.

I’d say that I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun in College Station but, if I were being entirely candid, I’d say that it was in the Fall of 1981 when, after going out with a bunch of friends in Austin for Nickel Beer Night at the Silver Dollar, I got a wild hair and decided to drive to College Station at 2:00 AM to “surprise” my boyfriend (who also happened to be my Plus 1 today). That trip was all great fun until the last condom broke, but that is a story for another time.

My apologies for bailing on the after-party at the hotel, but after early evening cocktails, a wonderful steak dinner, serendipitously stumbling across the Lucchese store (my serendipity, not his), then stopping for a late evening cocktail at a local whiskey bar, I am all out of steam. Enjoy the rest of your time together, safe travels on your trips home, and thanks again.

Hate that I had to miss it.

Schedules didn’t line up and my wife is traveling for the next couple of weeks and I was helping my buddy last weekend on his place in MS. This was the last weekend we had together for a couple of weeks.

We did a boil at my house in honor of team mudbugs.

This was my 14th consecutive year attending Bownanza, so I will take a stab at this question from my viewpoint and try not to let my GOF get in the way.

Legdog, circa 2010 "Participation is key."

Pictures only capture a small part of what Bownanza is really all about. I go every year just hoping I meet another Rsatt, Deadeyedeb, or Patek. I go to hug the friends I have met through the years, while I can.

The number of photographers was way higher is the past. The people toting big cameras as part of their hobby or profession in the past have other interests and there haven't been may new camera bugs to replace them. This seems to be a great time to shout out and thank just some who have added to the Bownanza story through their lens. Michael, Legdog, Casey, Cameron, Scotty, David and Mindy, and many others.

Attachment 1048945

The phone and high quality pictures. So much easier to whip out the Apple if you need to capture an image. If you understand what the phone has done and is doing to social interaction, you will get the point. A gathering of 20 people with common interests and you have half of them with their face glued to the phone or talking on it. Of those 10, maybe 1 is using the camera function.

My wife is not a bowhunter, but a dancing pig by trade. Yet she insists we get Bownanza on the calendar every year. I can only encourage everyone to make it a point to attend next year and see it through their own eyes and not the camera lens.

Hogboy

See ya next year Z.

Pictures are the only part for those unable to attend.

I enjoy looking at them even during the years I’ve attended. Can’t be everywhere all at once.

I got to meet Heath, Artos, and Burnadell this year. That was fun. I was able to see a lot of the regulars too.

A new person was asking about this club, and we all said “It’s not a club. It’s a family.”

It was nice to put a face with a name and meet each of you and the others I was able to meet for the first time. It makes such a difference in communicating when folks have actually met each other.

The dangest thing happened under the GOF tent...TWICE! I had been given, by my friend Swamp Ranger, a cool Yeti style insulated mug with the Texas Ranger badge/logo embossed into it. I was tickled pink to get it and proudly drank my whiskey from its Friday night and my coffee from it Saturday morning. I had not quite finished the coffee, and sat the mug down by the leg of my lawn chair under the GOF tent while I was talking. A few minutes later Odin's daughter's dog came wandering by, hiked his leg and peed on/in my cup! Dadgummit!!!

An hour or so later he came by, hiked his leg, and peed on my buddy, Casper82's Yeti soft cooler!!! WTH???

I kid you not!!!

An hour or so later he came by, hiked his leg, and peed on my buddy, Casper82's Yeti soft cooler!!! WTH???

I kid you not!!!
I understand Chew and Curt spent months training that dog...paid off I guess
