He isn't lung shot. Possibly one lung but not likely are he would have died right there while you watched. Gonna be pure guts with a hope of liver. He will die but could be late night before he does .

      Agree on bringing a rifle.

But I bet he’s already dead. He’s not moving because he’s dizzy or sick or it just hurts too much to move. He’ll die.

Years ago shot a deer steep angle. Thought I made a great shot, followed good blood trail as it slowly came to a stop, maybe 150yrds. Long story short, found him next morning still alive, caught the left lung only. How he was still breathing baffles me. When I saw him thought he was dead, started walking up to him and could see his chest moving. He jumped up and ran another 30yrds and fell again, from there I didn’t take any chances and put a bullet in him. Just be ready in the morning in case he has some life left in him.

I think he is liver shot and will be dead in the morning. I've shot a few in the liver and they all have bedded down within 50 yards. Gut shots seem to run IMO.

Well that was a very crappy night's sleep - The waiting truly is the hardest part!

And why is the dang sun taking so long to be up?

                      Thanks for all the comments.

Hope to provide a positive update in a few hours.
