Before we were married my wife lived in Vegas, my BIL was born and raised in LV
It’s not to bad , the strip is the worst!!! Lots of stuff to do, like major 4x4 , fishing , elk and mule deer hunting, jet skiing, the visitors are a pack of immorally degenerate fools, mount charleston is very nice

We’re were there two weeks back, fun place. If you need a job, my impression was that it wouldn’t be hard to get one there. We did venture off the strip. Lots of development going on and not enough workers.
I guess it’s just preference....city folk wonder why people would live in the country and country folk wonder why people choose to live in the city. All types of people out there.

Let's see - no humidity, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, no fire ants, no mosquitos, no grass to cut every week, traffic is still a heck of a lot better than Houston, love the night life once in a while.

There’s more to Vegas than the casinos...

Lots of hunting, fishing, hiking, water sports, etc and majority of state is public land. Cost of living isn’t too bad and almost no gun laws.

I’ve lived here 11 years and haven’t had to do the same thing twice unless it was by choice. Between the wife and I we have drawn elk/deer/antelope tags every year and are on our third desert sheep tag this year.

Most people are good and humble, I can find food from anywhere in the world at anytime, world class entertainment, and we have almost every store or franchise besides HEB and Whataburger.

What tourists see isn’t even a speck of what Nevada has to offer. Drive an hour and you’re in the mountains. Hell, our snow just melted a few weeks.

My fraternity brother just retired from the Henderson Fire Department as a Captain. He and his family never come down the hill to Vegas. Not sure why anyone thinks all the state of NEVEDA has is Vegas.

I have been there so many times because of work and I have always thought the same thing....why would anyone want to raise a family there??? I am speaking ONLY of Las Vegas, not Nevada as a whole.

No state income tax. You can get a lot real estate cheap. Brother lives outside. Rarely goes to strip but nice to have for doing some finer things. The strip is for tourists.

Tons of info on the internet about living there (as well as many other places). Do a Google search for "pros and cons living in las vegas" (without quotes) and you get all kinds of links on the subject.

Was on my 3day bender. I don’t sleep much while in LV, just back at the room for quick bite and a shower.

At the time our son was 10 yo. We never drove down or around strips with him in the car. One day we did some walking and the DB dudes were handing out cards with naked hoes on them with phone numbers. I'm talking hundreds of these cards laying on sidewalks. Unbelievable..[/COLOR]

I love to gamble, but made the point to never walk into a casino while we lived there. Wasn't about to get hooked on daily gaming.

But, Red Rock was a blast. We would 4x4 and hike for miles. We would striper fish, but never hunted.

Not many people know a 45 min drive to top of mount Charleston is usually 40 degrees cooler and some great views.

But I agree with it's no place to live or raise a kid IMO. Visit sure..
There was several situations where a kid was within earshot of some jack wagon yelling about strippers. I felt like I was in NYC, with the crowds. I will say that I want to drive there sometime and go to Ref Rock and Mt Charleston. Also, having the Grand Canyon 2hrs away would be cool.
