Lets see your duck boat

All these duck boats are great, but I hunt big open water shorelines on the coast with nothing but sand. How are these mud motors and gator tails in the sand?? I’ve suction cupped a few hulls to the bottom and I’m not looking for that ever again.

Go with a 8 degree hull or so and you won’t have that issue but surface drives work best on true flat bottoms, sand won’t hurt one any worse than mud will

They are not made for sand. The motor can’t dig in the sand and it will chew the prop up in no time.

Correct X2. They suck in coastal sand. Cant get through it, and you will buy a prop or two every season cuz it eats em up quick.

Sand will chew a outboard prop up as well so it’s which ever evil you want to go with. Unless you buy a air boat then your good

Since somebody bumped the thread, here's my new duck boat. Found it for sale last year and jumped on it. Looks just like the old one, little bit bigger and setup nicer.

Home made jon boat. Just got numbers for it a couple of weeks ago. I will be needing to make some changes before it sees it's first duck season so looking at your boats and Texas Grown's Jon Boat thread for ideas. First things I need are step for my dog, some kind of "stick it" anchor and a head light system.
