The new systems may be better but remember when the 12 to 134 switch happened, I34 was not near as cold.
Yes. I remember and have done countless retrofitting over the years. If properly done you would never notice a difference. 134 just needs room to breath and expand. Proper cooling of condenser and life is good.
To the OP. Seeing you are getting a great deal on liquid gold. I would 110% make sure all seals, Owings, compressor, hoses are new or like new condition

Aint that the truth. Dont want that gold evaporating. Haha
And just be glad you can still use R12 or have the opportunity to retrofit to R134a and dont have to deal with the newest one.
The R1234yf stuff is super expensive. Can get 3 cans of R12 on eBay for near as much as one can of that carap.
