    Stolen Valor scammer

Wow, drama in my hood the last few days. I never served but I've been working in the defense industry my entire career and this mess makes my blood boil. I'll try to make a long story short.

Our club hired a new general manager about 6 months ago. His resume and other claims include:
    - enlisted in US Navy 1980, exited as an officer 1984 (sniff test?)
    - sports combat vet license plate holder with Navy Cross license plate
    - Seal trident on his back window. Verbally has claimed to have been a special warfare officer.
    - Resume claimed double BSE in electrical and industrial engineering
    - Serious discrepancies in employment history confirmed by calling former employers

I guess nothing stood out to a bunch of pencil pushers on our Board of Directors but one member who is a retired cop didn't like the Seal claim and started investigating. Got the guy's DD214 confirming he left service as an E5. According to the DD-214, he had specializations in 4291 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Technician and 4294 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic. Again, according to the DD-214, he added 9575 Correctional Custody Specialist Ashore for the last three months of his service time.
No record of the engineering degrees. Contacted Don Shipley, no record as a seal or even having applied to BUDS. Finally, of course no record of Navy Cross.

So when the BOD president and other members seemed to want to sweep this under the rug, this investigator outed everything on facebook over the weekend. We are all waiting to see what plays out now. You can bet there are a lot of veterans in our hood plenty mad about this. Guy could even face criminal charges. So far the evidence posted looks pretty compelling. Innocent until proven guilty right?

If true, hope they hang him out to dry.

I'm really hoping it's somehow not true but the guy posted the DD214 obtained via FOIA and I don't see how that could be faked.

That's pretty low. In for the outcome.

Not a janitor. I misread that portion and corrected my original post.

You request it under the freedom of information act. DOD will redact some portion like the person's social security number but you can apparently get one for anyone who served.

When I ran Private Security Operations for Govt Contracts I had to teach the HR girls how to spot these guys because we would get one at least once a week. Got to watch out for those Navy Rangers, Marine Green Berets, and Army Raiders.

Good ol Don Shipley, I enjoyed watching his videos on YouTube calling out self proclaimed SEALs.
