Smile One year later - broken back is healed!

Remember last year, I fell off my tripod and broke 3 vertebrae and my heel? The doctor said then "a year from now, this will be a bad memory." I had my doubts, but now, a year later... I have to say he was right! I am doing great! It took 10 months for me to not feel it every day.

Be careful out there and keep your cell phone attached to your body, not your pack. You never know when the two of you might be separated!

Here's the original thread if you don't remember https://discussions.texasbowhunter.c...d.php?t=783810

Having recently had the privilege of meeting you, I would never have known you’d recently recovered from such a debilitating injury! Glad to know you’ve made a full recovery. Sounds like it could have ended very differently.

Thanks! I did - I got this doe from the very stand I fell from, and on opening weekend! My heart pounded just as much as it did for my first deer ever.

Yes, indeed. The doctors were all amazed and shocked that I wasn't worse off.
It was nice to meet you too. I wish we had met sooner.

In 2017 I had a grand mal seizure. Hit me right outta the blue. It arched my back so badly that it compressed my L1 21%. For a year I couldn’t move at night without pain. Unfortunately my back has never been the same. Happy for you though man!

Through all my injuries and surgeries it seems that 1 yr is typically the time to feel 100% again. Glad you have recovered fully.

That don't sound like any fun at all. Glad you recovered quickly, considering the damage. I would have expected it to take longer to recover from that. Sounds like you had a good doctor.

I healed from mine. So yes, you can heal if you have a good surgeon and do the physical therapy. Now, I admit, it was tough going through that PT at my age but it was a long surgery and PT.

Glad to hear it! We're in the same club, unfortunately. I had that same brace after falling about 14-15" while taking down a ladder stand to sell it. Compression fractures and heel bruising.

I thought about it - it hasn't been taken down, but I do have a sweet completely enclosed ground blind up next to it. I don't think I will be climbing it much anymore. But I couldn't let it win either. It's not in me to do that.

Thank you everyone! Never give up! Never surrender!
