Define GOOD bbq joints. I eat at plenty of hole in the wall joints that aren't $25/lb for brisket. And by plenty I mean I'm down to about two But I aint paying that. Heck, it's a bunch of kids that don't want to work more than a couple of days/week.

Hole in the wall joints nothing better. But I saw this place and read the article in DMN saying it was good.

As far as kids not wanting to work but 3 days a week, hell I’ll take that anyday if I can pay my bills. It’s called supply and demand.

Apparently their product is good as referenced by xdaryl, so I’m gonna try it. You don’t have to eat there everyday so splurge and enjoy.

In 2017 the wife and I did the Texas Monthly top 50, ate at nearly of them, in 62 days. It was a lot of fun. Cheapest brisket was $16. Most expensive was Wagyu at Mueller's in Taylor. It was $25 iirc and it was the absolute best brisket I had ever had.

Goldee's is over priced from what i hear and every time I go they are sold out by around 1, so I end up at Hurtado's in Arlington, which was a little less expensive, but very good. The kids running the joint were great to talk to though and i applaud what they are doing.

I agree but the probably make all they need during lunch hour. I got there around 1:30 pm on a Friday and bought the last of 3 of their items. Good stuff. They put a Hispanic twist on their dishes. I have been back a few times!

Had to laugh I am willing to bet those hole in the wall joints would love to be sold out by 1 and be accused of being over priced Maybe they need to work on their product.

By this logic Joe Ts and Pappacitos is is the best mex food in town. Lol. And Primos makes the best turkey calls. Popularity contests rarely reveal where the quality lies

I'm sure Goldee's is good food. Everyone that I've talked to likes it. I'm personally not going to pay $25/lb for brisket. Heck, it would cost my family $100 to go have a BBQ lunch lol. And the question lies, would Goldee's sell out by 1pm every day if they were open 6 days/week? If people want to pay that for BBQ, I have no problem with it. I was just posting my opinion.

You don't sell out by 1 if your overpriced and have sub-par bbq. Don't complicate it.

It's pretty smart. Just make somebody think they are missing out on something and they will stack up if you have a good product. Plus, city folks will pay more. It's science. Nothings overpriced if you can sell it.

I don’t like spending the money either but think they may be comparably priced. Seems in line with most places that offer true smoked bbq with a stick burner and quality meat. I live minutes from Corkscrew and still rarely go due to cost and the fact that I’ve had it plenty before and would rather spend that extra on new to me places. Have yet to try any of the DFW places. Hopefully soon.

Then convince the wife we need a small moberg or similar for the house instead of a new oven.

Hickory Stick-$16-$17/lb brisket
David's BBQ-$14.99/lb brisket

These places are nothing fancy. Just straight forward, salt of the earth type places that have been around for decades. Just your basic bbq joint that you can go in and get a lunch special for $8 or $9.

Nobody said Goldee's wasn't good. I just said I wasn't gonna pay $25/lb for brisket. Like mentioned above, it's all marketing

In a consumer driven market, if a product is overpriced or inferior in quality they would have to adjust or fold.

Market drives success or failure, especially in small business.

This joint isnít in ďthe cityĒ. Until now Iíve never heard of them. Again market driven small businesses will fail if they are truly overpriced, or if the food sucks. Iím betting they donít have a huge marketing machine pumping them up like letís say Hornady.

Have y'all seen tge price of briskets in the store? It's crazy. I haven't cooked one in two years. I'm not paying 65.00 for one. Then they have prime and wagyu for over 100.00.

These days good brisket joints are everywhere. It's all getting more expensive thanks to the new Texas BBQ revolution started in Austin a few years ago.

I think a lot of them these days are buying really high dollar brisketsÖ Which kind of defeats the purpose of brisket to begin with. But they have to make up for the fact that they arenít that great a cooks. They only cook enough so that they know they can sell out to keep unsold inventory minimal, and income predictable.

Yep, I stock up when they on sale. Can get a choice brisket for about $2/lb two or three times/yr. I can cook a 12 lber for about $25(plus wood) and we can eat on it for a month or so

Had no idea Goldee's was even there. I pass by it everyday on my way home... I tend to go to Jambo's in Rendon off of 1187. Pretty good stuff. The "Texan" will fill you up plus...

You are absolutely correct about the marketing, I've been to David's pretty darn good grub. The one I think is over high priced is Coopers. And I didn't know we had a shortage??

Atmosphere is great. Food isn't great but edible. Pappasitos is better. They actually have mesquite grilled fajitas and freshly made tortillas. I was wondering what was wrong with it.

Y'all keep saying new trucks are overpriced and most dealers are sold out by 1:00(if that's the pricing yardstick).

Pork butt > brisket.

To be fair brisket is a Texas thing and pork butt is a southern thing.
