Default Anyone use GMRS radios?

I just received my gmrs number today. Still trying to schedule a ham class but they are hard to find in my area. Studied up on gmrs and figured Iíd get the license. It will come in handy out west but didnít know if anyone else used the gmrs frequencies elsewhere?

We have quit using CB's and gone to GRMS in the offroad community. Most people are just using handhelds and getting 2-3 miles. On our trip to Arkansas I was picking up a group in the next valley over on the handheld while the vehicle based CB was struggling. No experience with the vehicle based GRMS yet.

Ours will be for family communications out on the property. They are putting in a repeater so I’m hoping to get decent range.
