Default Traditional First Shot Challenge Week 18

Same setup, same target...just shooting for vitals circle. Rectangle is shoulder blade and to be avoided.

Going to simulate a quartering toward hunting shot on a medium-size pig. Target will have a 6" circle, with a 3"x6" rectangular box overlapping 1-1/2" as shown below.

The circle represents the vitals. Rectangle represents shoulder shield.

Orient target face to be at about a 45-degree angle to the shooter, with the box shape closest to the shooter. Flip paper either way you want for quartering direction. Turn target opposite quartering direction from what you used last week.

First arrow of a day, shooting for the circular "kill circle". (We’ll skip the 10 second follow on shot.)

As in the previous couple of weeks, we'll walk back each next day after a hit in the "kill circle", starting at 10-yards, then 13 yds., then 15 yds., and finally 20 yds. (Kiddos shoot from 5,7,8 and 10 yards). Four days' tries. Winner is the one shooting from the farthest point on Day 4. Tie-breaker will be the fewest arrows used total for the most hits.

Good skillin Shooters.

Cool. So shots in box do NOT count for hits? Correct?

Briar: posted this same challenge on Rick's TAF site for Week 18. Added a line, saying that touching a line counts in the shooter's favor; and, since there's not going to be follow-up shots, made the tie-breaker the measure of the total hits closeness to the box line, encouraging (daring) shots as close to the shield as possible. Just FYI.

Is this acceptable? I used my cad software to draw the target as called out. Viewed the drawing from a 45 degree angle and printed it to scale on my printer. I dont have anymore boxes and my shooting lane is too narrow for me to shoot from an angle on my stationary target.

Thanks.

He's a big one too.
That feeder trough is knee high to me, and his front is down in the hole he rooted.

He's getting pretty bold.
I don't imagine it will be long before the problem is solved.

It's a 250 gal tank.
It holds 32 50# bags of feed counting what the down spout holds.

I'd be sitting in the stand every evening if I could. Pig killing time in that area right now.

Eyeballing the arrow shaft distance to the shoulder blade box...it looks like Tradtiger is a bit closer than either Rick or I at 13 yards.

Tradtiger wins the target. Good shooting TT! I look forward to this weeks target.

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mommys!
