Yea, it is shocking that it is even a discussion! Of couse, I once had one of my friends at a local townhall meeting in Eastern Colorado where a wildcat independent had proposed drilling some wells for Natural Gas... The meeting was for local town folks to ask questions and give feedback... One old man stood up and said something to the effect, that He wanted all the blankety-blank oil companies to get the heck out of Colorado and stop messing up the landscape. He said he don't use nothing they get out the ground there. The facilitator ask the man, "Sir, how do you heat your home in the winter?"... the guy snapped back, "Well it ain't that dang Natural Gas crap! I sue "PROPANE"!!!
There was dead silence in the meeting for a good minute before anyone dared utter a sound... Then finally there were a few snickers and long sighs... You just can't fix stupid!!

A partial list of products made from Petroleum (6000 items). One 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline. The rest (over half) is used to make things like: Although the major use of petroleum is as a fuel, (gasoline, jet fuel, heating oil),
and petroleum and natural gas are often used to generate electricity, there are many other uses. Here are some of the ways petroleum is used in our every day lives. All plastic is made from petroleum and plastic is used almost everywhere: in cars, houses, toys, computers and clothing. Asphalt used in road construction is a petroleum product as is the synthetic rubber in the tires.
excuse the re-formatting
Paraffin wax comes from petroleum, as do fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, detergents, phonograph records, photographic
film, furniture, packaging materials, surfboards, paints, and artificial fibers used in clothing, upholstery, and carpet backing.

Could have been doing it since the beginning were it not for lobbying, and the bible thumpers backing it
I'm not against fracking per say, but it is an archaic way of doing things vs what we could have been doing since the early 1900s.
We seem to have this mindset of staying in the past, just because though....
A field of green would look a hundred times better than a nasty azz frack site.
And I spent some yrs on frack sites, from New Mexico, Texas, ND to Pennsylvania so I know it first hand.
Big oil and their lobbying has been screwing us over forever, and just as corrupt as any corporation there is.
But drill baby drill .
Eventually though they will be forced out.
Moving away from oil is the future period whether you're Democrat or Republican.
Has nothing to do with climate change or liberals.

A field of green that has to be maintained with chemicals and heavy equipment. All of which is made possible by....
Also, compared to destroying massive amounts of habitat to turn that land into a massive flat field that man can turn over with equipment repeatedly, fracking seems pretty minimally invasive.

I am just not following why somebody isnt capturing this market? Its there. Tons of green folks that hate all things petrol, that would gladly switch to a plant based product over a petrol based one. Probably even pay more for the same product.
