Memphis Zoo is the best I’ve ever been to. The Hermitage is Andrew Jackson’s old plantation and we enjoyed it. It’s on the east side of Nashville.

Land between the lakes. Check out the battle sites and the Wildlife center. Camp out somewhere, rent a boat and go fishing, or take any of the hiking trails. So many things to do and see there. I was stationed in Fort Cambell and spent many many weekends and week days out there and still didn't see or do everything I wanted to.

The observation tower on the summit of Clingmans Dome offers spectacular 360° views of the Smokies and beyond if you're willing to climb the steep half-mile walk to the tower at the top. On clear days views expand over 100 miles. It is the highest point in the Great Smoky mountains.
Oak Ridge, one of the production sites of the Manhattan Project is worth a visit.Last edited by Phillip Fields; 02-19-2020, 10:00 AM.

My BIL/SIL lived in Nashville while he was doing his residency at Vanderbilt, so we went to Nashville several times. I really liked the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman and Opryland Hotel are worth a look. That’s a **** impressive resort. I loved chilling during the day in the streets of Nashville. There are some amazing old record shops and dive bars and music joints, besides all the touristy BS. We never really left the Nashville area, but the area where all the country stars live (I think it’s called Brentwood) is neat. Like doing the a Hollywood star tours, only it’s a bunch of small ranches and big properties, not a neighborhood of homes. We didn’t do the official tour on that, just went out there on Sundays because that was where their church was.
