Default 2020 APR Customer Supplied Action TBH Deal

What it is – Numerous folks have requested a more economical option as an alternative to our annual TBH special build. We agree! While the annual TBH deal is heavily discounted, there is no denying that prices have risen considerably as component choices have trended to more top-tier manufacturers in recent years. This has undoubtedly made it more difficult for many to participate. Thanks to a little prompting from some folks around here, we are offering this as a solution.

You supply your action, we’ll supply the rest. We still have a pretty good supply of Grayboe stocks left from the last generation of Mavericks and Rangers, so we can leverage that inventory to make this an even better deal. Since this deal hinges on stocks on hand, we are limited to what we have. Basically, you’ll be getting the earlier Gen 3 Maverick or Ranger package at a very deep discount. If we have any stocks left over after this deal, we’ll offer them separately to members here who might want one. Also, since most parts are currently on hand, these should complete fairly quickly after the orders are placed. Sorry lefties, we don’t have any stocks on hand for this one.

Option 1: Gen 3 Maverick $1,429

Build specs:
Customer provided 700 or clone action with trued receiver face
Precision ground .250 Recoil lug
MullerWorks cut-rifled APR contour barrel threaded 5/8-24
Grayboe Outlander Stock
APR BDL style bottom metal, mag box, spring, follower and action screws
Trigger Tech Primary Trigger
Spiral fluted bolt and your choice of barrel fluting
Caliber/Barrel Length/Twist rate of your choice
Cerakote color of choice on barreled action
Choice of standard colors/patterns on stock

Available upgrades:
Trigger Tech Special +$40
Full Action Truing +$150
Wyatt’s mag box conversion +$110
Bolt Knob Conversion w/knob +$50
Custom Paint Scheme(stencil work) +$250 and up
Muzzle brakes …..Blended Radial +$100
Blended Gill Style +$135
Area 419 Hellfire +$170

Option 2: Gen 3 Ranger $1,529

Build Specs:
Customer provided 700 or clone action with trued receiver face
Precision ground .250 Recoil lug
MullerWorks cut-rifled Remington Sendero contour barrel threaded 5/8-24
Grayboe Renegade Stock
Hawkins Precision DBM bottom metal with one 5 rnd mag
Trigger Tech Primary Trigger
Medium Tactical Bolt Knob conversion
Spiral fluted bolt and your choice of barrel fluting
Caliber/Barrel Length/Twist rate of your choice
Cerakote color of choice on barreled action
Choice of standard colors/patterns on stock

Available upgrades:
Trigger Tech Special +$40
Full Action Truing +$150
Custom Paint Scheme(stencil work) +$250 and up
Muzzle brakes …..Blended Radial +$100
Blended Gill Style +$135
Area 419 Hellfire +$170

When it is - We will begin taking orders at 10:00 AM beginning Tuesday 1/28/2020, and will run until we run out of parts or through 6:00 pm, Feb 28th- whichever is first. We have parts for the following on hand:
Short action Mavericks = 7
Long action Mavericks = 10
Short action Rangers = 24
Long action Rangers = 20

If you want a Maverick version, you might want to move quickly! Additionally, 3 of the long action Maverick stocks are hydro-dips in multi-cam, ATACS and Kryptec Highlander. No upgrade charges on these……..but first come – first served.

Pricing/Deposits – Since most of this inventory is on hand or customer supplied, we can have a much friendlier deposit policy on this one! A deposit of $500 will be required when order is placed. The remaining balance is due upon rifle’s completion.

How to participate – Simply call the shop to place your order or ask questions during normal business hours. Our number is 817-284-0034. Garrett, Jason, John or myself will be happy to assist or consult with you on your build choices. There is an infinite number of camo choices or color schemes to choose from, far too many to post here. I’d urge you to visit our FB or IG page to look at examples to get an idea of what’s possible. Please ask questions here, as many of us have been down this road before and can offer advice…..and it might just help someone else that has the same questions. I’m not going to answer any questions regarding this deal via PM, as I won’t have the opportunity to keep up with it very efficiently.

The fine print – We no longer provide Remington actions, hence the need to provide your own. My plan is to true the face on these actions and roll with them to keep the costs down. This will produce a great shooting rifle most times……..especially if the donor was a proven shooter before. That said, we will still offer our full truing service for those that want it at a discounted rate. Two things that I expect to encounter on the provided actions are a few with primary extraction issues and a small percentage with a significant amount of warp. You will be contacted if I find any of these issues and asked how you wish to proceed. Re-time and TIG bolt handle to restore primary is $125
Let the games begin………..uh, again!

Good on you guys! To recognize this, and then do something about it, that’s fantastic. Thank you for putting out a more economical option for us.
When the time comes, it’ll be you guys building for me.

What a crazy deal. I can't do it but at $1500, no way you can find a better 700 custom on the planet.

Well played Robert. I think this is a great idea for anyone wanting a helluva shooter at a great price. Are you doing the TIG work in house or sending it out?

Love how this ones set up. Hopefully y’all do this type again. A lot easier to have an action on hand and get it built.

Stick1! Such a cool deal you're providing here..Nice! What would be the estimated finished rifle weight be between option 1 and 2 in a long action? Been following the 2020 build thread but held off.. this is also super cool and i'm interested! Thanks!

You can pull the stock off and ship the barreled action out to him. That’s much easier than the whole gun sometimes. If you wanted I’m sure you could find someone to break it down for you also.

This one is what it is. For the price, you could probably buy the AG and sell the grayboe and come out money ahead.

For you guys looking for donors, look around for the cheapest ADL you can find. Can usually find them for around $350ish. We’ll be replacing or providing all the bottom metal parts, so don’t worry about trying to find a BDL set up.

I will be calling on Monday with some questions.

I am trying to see which direction to go on next caliber. My hunting rifles are .223, 7mm-08 and 270wsm. I was thinking 6.5PRC or go with a 300.

Here’s what I’m thinking......

6.5 saum gap 4s
.120 freebore , maybe a tad longer since I’m building off a long action? I definitely want to still be able to shoot the 130's though and them not falling out of the case.....what’s your thoughts Robert?
Long action with spiral bolt knob
22” or 24” still undecided but this will be a hunting rifle I’d like to shoot suppressed so the shorter the better.
1:8 twist
Deep Spiral fluted barrel
Graphite Black cerakote
Maverick stock - Elite GAP Camo

Leupold VX6HD 3-18x50 TMOA reticle

On the gap camo I like the smaller irregular shaped sponge Like this.

Is a 7mm mag a standard long action or would I need a "mag" action? In other words can a 30 06 be used to make a 7mm Rem Mag?
