Get a TC Encore 7mm-08 or 22-250. Great guns for anyone. If you have a bunch of bolt guns it'll change it up. Its one of my favorite rifles to bring with me. That and my Sako .308.

I have a 257 weatherby mag. I love it. Killed loads of hill country deer, lots of hogs and a red stag with it. I would highly recommend the round.

.25-06 or 6.5 will fit well in there.
7mm-08 will cause you to lay down that 270 and never pick it up again, so pick your poison.

I’d say something in the .308 parent case I.E. 7-08, 308,243 .260/6.5creed.

Also couldn’t go wrong with a 6.5grendel.

It looks like you like the fairly traditional calibers. A 22-250, 243, 25-06 or a 7mm-08 would go nice with your selection.

Or you can be an odd ball like me and build an AR in 350 Legend for the brush.

Seriously, from my experiences I always go back to a 7mm bullet line up. Probably the best coefficient bullet size out there.
.243, 7mm-08, and 7mm rem mag, I still own all three and they all have their purpose. I hunt with the 7mm rem mag the most, just in case I have to really reach way out there and my son loves the 7mm-08 because it is flat shooting with a low recoil.

If you donít, start shopping. The 25-06 Remington is one of the mildest recoiling, flattest shooting, wind-defying, overlooked medium hunting cartridges in our arsenal.

Ron Spomer has taken whitetails, pronghorns and coyotes with a 25-06 Remington and eagerly awaits opportunities to expand that list.

In your shoes now. Been researching brands and calibers for months. The two guns I was looking at closest was the tikka t3x and bergara b14. Iíve settled on the 7-08 and the tikka t3x stainless. Check them out. Lots of good options out there.

I am a huge 30-06 fan and over the last 15 years I have changed. For the hill country to Colorado this is a great caliber. The ballistic coefficient is great.

I have had zero luck with the Hornady superformance crap so thatís out. That leaves the ammo loaded with Berger 115s and remington that I know of, any more Iím missing? Have not seen federal in many years and the good Hornady ammo they stopped producing for the superformance dog sh**.

You dream of big game (assuming this continent), keep the 7Mag on your list to be considered.

You already have all that's needed for the Hill Country.

I'd suggest a 7RM or 300WM if you think you're ever going on an elk hunt and they'll do just fine in the Hill Country.

If not, as others have said, get a Lever gun in 357 or 44 mag or 45-70. I have a 45-70 in an 1895 Marlin that shoots 3-4 inch groups at 200 yards with a 4x scope. That's plenty of range for most Hill Country work.

.45/70, put on some peep sights, shoot moderate loads. Fun, nostalgic, kills EVERYTHING. You already have stuff for longer range. Or a .30/30,or .35 Remington, .444, etc.
