    Tequila?

A good friend has done me a favor and I want to get him a bottle to say thanks. Tequila is his drink of choice and I know nothing about tequila. What are some good brands/makers to look for

Codigo is a smooth tequila that won't break the bank. I've gifted it a few times and everyone loved it. I also like Centenario.

George strait makes decent ones in a lot of price ranges. Milagro is good for mixed drinks and can be had a decent price. Avion is killer if you wanna break the 100 dollar mark. Don Julio makes quite the assortment and they seem fair for each price jump.

It really depends on the taste of the individual. I personally like Hornito’s because of its black peppery taste.

I also buy 1800 for $27 for the big bottle on base and cut it with Hornitos.

I only like clears but the yellows are a whole nuther ball game.

I have tasted $200 bottles but my Hornitos/1800 mix is what I prefer.

One that I wouldn’t recommend is 21 seeds flavored stuff.

I just don’t spend big bucks on anything under 100 proof. In these cases it’s usually whiskey and it has to be better than Wild Turkey 101 or Whistle Pig which is almost impossible for me but again, its an individual taste.

I got suckered into buying Avion, it was a waste of money for me.

What proof is alcohol after distillation, how do you get it down to 40%?

                  And who “sips” tequila?

Casamigos is what I usually buy. Tequila drinkers can be pretty picky, I feel like this is always a crowd pleaser.

I can think of lots of liquors under 100 that are far from smooth!

Brands are not important. It needs to be 100% agave. The type is also important. Gold is crap. Silver is OK. Reposado and Anejo are best. I prefer Reposado.

Tequila Cazadores reposado is great for around 30.00.

People with a more refined palate
I enjoy a fine cigar paired up with a sipping liquor, be it rum , scotch whiskey, tequila, Kentucky whiskey

Life is to short to drink cheap booze

I hear you - Old Crow is 80 proof & not smooth. At least I don’t think so.
