    persimmons are dropping

    Persimmons are dropping earlier than I wanted.I hope there's still some left for opening week.[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

    We have mature Burr Oak acorns south of Fort Worth, and the robins have been in the bird bath, wonder what they know we don't. We also have hummingbirds, so not sure what is up.

      Those are persimmons?
      They look like native plums...
      Our persimmons around here are purple.

          The deer love the purple ones as well.......got a ton of persimmons in the yard and they hammer them big time.......

                Buck-Chaser, if you want some for opening weekend, would it be possible to throw a bunch in the fridge until then, then take them out & scatter them on the ground?

                    Purple persimmons = Diospyros Zapote

                    Orange Persimmons = Diospyros Virginiana

                    All of which are members of the Ebony family

                        I found some on our place in Paris last year. Haven't been back recently to see if they are ripe yet. I guess I need to put a stand close to them.

                          They are still green in Hughes Springs. As are the figs. The pomegranates are turning though. Been thinking about throwing some out at the lease. The second the persimmons start to turn on our lease, they get wiped out.
