I’ve got hybrids (Rhode Island Red crossed with White Leghorn)
They are bred to produce a smaller size laying hen for less food consumption but are great layers. They don’t miss a beat
Don't wash your eggs, brush off the poop. Not good to wash them.

I keep some steel wool just for this. I only wash with water right before use. If wool wont take it off, you can use extremely hot water on a paper towel to try and wipe it off.
It could be the heat. When its super hot they seem smaller. My hens stopped laying all together last couple weeks and started molting.
