Probably not really much to talk about in CFB circles this week.

Just a reminder, several posts pushed or exceeded the line of what is acceptable here last week. Quite a few posts got a little personal, regardless of how many asterisks you used. Let's clean that up.

I am really looking forward to see how this Texas team responds. They responded well after the Arkansas loss, so I am expecting them to come out guns blazing this week and put on a show. This is Texas big recruiting weekend, so the benefit of the 11am game is the coaches can hopefully get a win and then spend the afternoon with the recruits and their families.

I am working through the stages of grief over the loss, but I am came to the conclusion that the 1st half is what Texas could look like, and the second half is were Texas is right now. Texas is sitting 4-2 through 6 games and that is about the spot that most people had them pegged. There was a great article about the game and it basically stated that Saturday was the 1st day on the job for Sark at Texas. He knows now what the level the program needs to be and his job moving forward is to get it there. I agree, its the second half of the season and they need to get on a good run.

The article was a solid write up from the finger.

If the remaining teams want to give the Texas defense fits, just run counter. They can’t defend it.

Frogs RUSHED for 400yds last week against a horrible Tech team. Defense is still horrendous. They will get embarrassed on National TV this week by OU.

Didn't get to see the TX/OU game but just looking at the box score it appears Riley made adjustments at half and Sark didn't? Would yall agree or something else going on?

SEC Shorts nailed it again as usual. Not often they get to parody Bama.

Hoping that it’s “on to the next week” for the Aggies and we don’t have a hangover from the Bama win. I want to see more 1st half Calzada and I hope he continues to grow. Defense gave up a lot of yards, but tightened up in the areas that count. “Should” be an easy win against Mizzou, but we have to come to play and not get big-headed over one game.

Some interesting matchups this week. Curious to find out if OK State is any good. Should be a good one down in Austin.

BYU coming off a big loss to play Baylor in Waco is intriguing. I still don’t know if Baylor is any good.

Looking to see how Bama responds after the loss going on the road again to play the pirate. I expect Saban gets after it this week and stomps a mudhole in Starkville.

Kentucky at Georgia is either going to be a Georgia beat down or a heck of a ballgame.

I agree 100%. Okie Lite is gonna be tough but I am hopeful UT comes out and punches them in the mouth, the entire game.

I felt like Sark abandoned what was working which lead to an abysmal 3rd quarter. Texas could not stop the bread and butter counter play which I believe OU averaged over 15 yards per play when they ran it and scored at least 3 late TD's off of it.

The OL still sucks (I'm tired of seeing unblocked defenders) and the Defense is garbage as the tackling woes continue.

It was 38-20 at half. Riley made adjustments...Sark as most would think hangin' almost 40 on a highly ranked team, what he was doing would continue....no? Texas D couldn't stop Caleb Williams and the run offense when Riley took out rattler....whether it was the combination of talent, luck or a tired *** defense. Texas offense sputtered. OU seemed to have some answers for the first half. I guess you could say he didn't make enough adjustments in the 3rd quarter or what he made didn't work. One thing is for sure, Texas DBs have pathetic ball skills at the point of a reception. Williams threw up several hail mary type balls and Texas DBs were tripping over themselves and getting Mossed.... And your boy, Worthy balled out....although he had a critical fumble in the second half.

Worthy is a talented little dude. 9 for 269 and 2 TD, but that bonehead return that got stripped should never have occurred.

Texas and TCU are essentially the same team it sounds like. I've never seen defense this bad

It's more of the same for us, allowing 40 points a game versus P5 opponents.

The offense is legit, the defense gives me the sad.

I was proud of how the Ags responded to two early losses and put together a solid performance against Bama. I won't say I expected the win, but I was pretty optimistic they would play well and keep it close. Most of the Ags' issues against Arkansas and MSU were self inflicted mental lapses, IMO. No need to rehash the OL, QB, DB and/or scheme issues, but I felt like the Ags were certainly a much better team than those performances indicated.

Secondly, I think Bama was primed for a letdown after the OM game. As strange as that sounds, perceptions for both teams obviously changed from the beginning of the season. Most Bama teams have been largely immune to this, but I think Saban has sensed it a little based on a few of his press conference comments even after big wins.

I also haven't thought this Bama version is at the same level as prior squads. They entered the season with a young, unproven QB, had to replace a couple of OL, lost a few all time great receivers and have a somewhat inexperienced secondary. Obviously they have young talent, but I just didn't feel like they were invincible as they have been in the past. I've had them at #2, behind UGA, since before the season. In fact, I didn't have them making the SEC Championship game in my preseason predictions (in fact, I had them losing THIS game against the Ags.)

Finally, it was the night game at Kyle. Despite what Herbstreit thinks (thought), the environment at Kyle the last two Saturday nights has been incredible, and made a legitimate difference in both games.

Oh, and it was Jimbo's birthday!

So my next question is how much of the Ags' win is attributable to correcting their own problems and their improved level of play, and how much is a factor of being a "trap" game for the Tide? Before the season, I looked at the Mizzou game as a potential trap game for the Ags. How well do they maintain focus, handle success and take care of business on the road against what should be another "inferior" opponent? A loss this week completely negates any momentum they may have gained following the big win over Bama.

No flukes but it was a game of inches on several plays rarely going Texas way as usual lol. For instance Washington caught a pass at the one with 2" of his foot out of bounds at the 1 that would have given them a 1st down. Instead they had to settle for a FG in the second half. On the flip side, Mims made a spectacular catch, much like Washington, and his foot was so close to the sideline you couldn't fit a "fine hair" into the gap between his foot and the white. That ended up in a TD for them instead of a 4th down FG. Both legitimately called, I just laughed at the difference and my luck. Then the strip with the OU RBs knee hitting the ground a split second before it came out and the punt that hit the Longhorn in the shoulder with two Sooners standing around him and the returner instead of hitting one of the Sooners......Things like that...Texas bad luck

It’s hard to stop the run in football when you are locked up in a WWE wrestling match. I have zero clue what holding is anymore.

I agree that Texas is headed in the right direction!

Enough about a tough loss and on to OSU!

I think Jimbo’s gameplan all week was to swing for the fences against bama. Having lost two in a row and being expected to get blown out, there was no reason not to cut it loose on both sides of the ball. It worked out pretty well.

Not that anyone but myself cares but the Mustangs are still undefeated and ranked but I’m still not sure how good we really are. Need BYU to lose one more to Baylor this week and just keep winning and that would set up a really big game in November against Cincy. I really think the horns are on the right path. Need more and better, big uglies on both sides of the ball to be big time good. Certainly have the skill kids to be big time. As for the Ags, they just seem to be all over the place as usual. Talent is there both skill wise and in the trenches but just don’t seem to be able to string together consistent performances on both sides of the ball. Maybe Saturday was the catalyst to push them over the top. I am a fan of all of Texas college football and as such, really follow all of the teams. Remember it is all relative, but I’m telling you the two biggest surprises are UTSA and UTEP. I know neither has played the likes of Alabama or Oklahoma, but considering where those two programs have been and come from, pretty remarkable.

You forgot to mention the receiver running out of bounds un touched and then coming back in to catch a 30 yard pass on 3 and 19. Ruled a catch because he was "forced " out of bounds.,

I didn't want to mention excuses or poor officiating with oktx lurking. I was just talking about the game of inches.

So now that you mentioned it, I saw where they didn't even review that part of the play.......The review was just to see if the catch was made. That was so early in the game though, there is no telling how it would have unfolded later. The only sure thing is they would not have had 7 points on that drive since it would have been 4th and long.. If I am not mistaken that was another example of Texas DBs crappy ball skills at the point of a reception. OU receiver made a great catch.

It’s a Scott Campbell crew a s the list is long! He and his crews are notoriously bad!

The sequence on a single play that was a big play in the game!

Hmmm, sounds like a normal week on the CFB thread.

Y’all call that worthy a fumble on the kickoff. That was not a fumble that was a lot stronger dude pulling the ball away from a skinny freshman .

Officiating, it won't be any better in the SEC. What did OU have, 1 penalty, lol.

The receiver going out of bounds was huge as it was 3rd down and lead to points, but there was another big miss in the second half when Caleb Williams was hit before he threw the ball and Texas recovered. That play was never reviewed. Oh, well. It's part of the game.

True, A bonehead play that should have never happened. That was the second time he did it and didn't make it to the 20 either time.

He had the ball....then he didn't have the ball.

Its scored as fumbles versus fumbles lost... Its not strips or a lot stronger dude pulling the ball away from a skinny freshman versus strips lost or a lot stronger dude pulling the ball away from a skinny freshman lost... Lets agree that it was a strip fumble..

Either way, I agree he should not come out.....

Yep . .

It's not holding unless it gets called. OU is the best in the business at it.

Things are trending better. Just need to get the defense sured up. Hopefully good recruiting in the trenches and the secondary will help solve that.

Texas' 1st 6 games under...

Charlie Strong 2-4 Record
-9 Point Differential

Tom Herman 3-3 Record
+54 Point Differential

.Steve Sarkisian 4-2 Record
