Skipped the morning hunt due to rain and 100% chance of mosquitos, i waited patiently thru the day and even watched some college football. I planned on heading out around 3pm my feeder throws at 545 and most of the deer had been showing up during the last hour of light. We had a good wind for my set but it was almost non existent , i poured sweat by the time i changed clothes and made the trek to spot. I settled in and just knew i was closing the deal today on the first hunt of the season , which i had never done before. 645 pm arrives and deer pop out to my left into the clearing, my target buck and a yearling spike what a pair. My buck crossed two shooting lanes before he came to the third which is where he met my arrow. I hit my mark he was leaking from both sides, i heard a crash fairly close but out of site. Waited bit got down and checked my arrow, good blood, so i went to the truck and waited a few more. Once i took up track he had only made it 50 yrds or so into the trees. Blessed to have made a good shot.
