I'm up by Tejas Park for now. Added my TBH user name by my permit # on the feeder if anyone needs to look me up. Can't wait for that first cool front to get here. Good luck to everyone.

Default Learn as you go

First time game dolly user.

Well I beat the crap out of my game dolly yesterday. My location is about a mile in from where I park and the trail is full of ups and downs and jagged rock. I loaded the game dolly down with two bags of feed and my feeder. As I get about halfway I start hearing some of the feed hitting the ground/rocks, apparently I snagged the bag on the rocks causing it to rip. Big lesson learned is to put something on top of the rack so that the rocks don't rip the bag.

I have to give the "Game Winner" dolly a good 4 out of 5 as it stayed together as I pulled and beat it against the rocks along the trail. I will need to modify it a bit to make it a bit quieter.

Hope everyone is getting set up as opening day will be here before we know it. Best of luck and be safe.

Well, should have just kept going and made a corn trail all the way to your spot for the deer to follow. As a bonus, the load got lighter as you went, lol.

Funny thing, I did have a nice trail for about 35 yards. Learn as you go, still better than being at work. LOL

I checked my APH booklet. I don't see Lake Georgetown anywhere. I'm curious about this place.

Yup. Not in there. All the info is on the USACE website. All hunting is by draw conducted by the corps.

Ahhh, checked the USACE site and can see that deadline was past already for 2021-2022 hunting season.

"APPLICATIONS: Archery Applications for the Lake Georgetown 2021-2022 Archery Hunting Season will be accepted starting May 3, 2021. All applications must be turned in to the Lake Office no later than July 2, 2021 at 3:30 pm. Applications can be brought to or mailed to the Lake Georgetown Project Office at the address below. The project office will NOT accept applications by email this season. The $25 application fee will be waived for the 2021-2022 season, but will return for the 2022-2023 season."

Anyone in 9b might want to check their cameras. Someone stole my card and batteries. Not sure who would be in this unit other than hunters. Pretty infuriating

I hunted the lake in the mid 90ís. A very different experience back then I donít think I would like it now. I didnít use feeders I used milk jugs filled with corn that I would replenish as my 3 or 4 day hunt progressed. Lots of deer back then! Some great memories.

not sure about the rest of you but I am pumped to see if the scouting time pays off this season. Seeing some pretty good activity but I know the routine will change as the season progresses. Good luck to all, be safe and enjoy God's creation.

Anybody know who's set this is? It is directly on my path to my stand that I have hunted for two years, not 100 yards from the main trail, and wasn't there when I set up.

Is this anyone's feeder on here? I found this feeder last friday about 60-65 yards from my set up. I emailed jewel for hunter info but haven't heard back yet.

It was HOT, zero wind, hardly any movement. I saw one deer walking about 50 yards out in the shadows but that's it. Might head out tomorrow afternoon in shorts and my crocs.

You're on the board, congrats! The deer in my neighborhood north of the lake are solely focused on the few acorns in the area. Good luck to all y'all this season.

Are Sunday mornings typically the more crowded morning for hikers? I’ve had atleast 15 people walking the trail near me. Just curious as it’s my first year out here. Saturday morning was empty.

The trail is pretty busy in general on weekends depending on weather. Especially if your closer to a park or camp area

Not sure. I've always put my stands far enough away I don't hear anyone.

I think with Covid a lot of folks have rediscovered the outdoors. When the wife and I hike, it is in the morning.

The deer are used to hikers, so do sweat it.

Goodluck today.

Definitely a person.

Two years ago someone took down my cell camera, took the batteries out of it, unscrewed my antenna and put it all inside my ground blind. They did steal my chairs though, but left the game cam. It's these liberals moving to Georgetown that don't like hunters. A thief would have stolen the camera and a coon would have damaged the camera. Not a racoon. Just a liberal

Could beÖ but they didnít mess with my camera (this time). IF I was d-bag I would take the camera and destroy the feeder and blind. Seems like pretty low effort sabotage. Iím heading out tomorrow with my card reader to find out for sure.

First year there I had a photo of someone walking up to my camera. He didn't take anything but clearly pulled my card to see what photos I had.

After that I put a hidden camera on my camera just incase I needed better photos.

Sucks that people mess with your stuff.
