He also said my body is in the process of “auto-amputation”. That’s also a good thing because as the dead tip shrinks up, new skin is regenerating below that dead part.

At this point, every millimeter of tissue that regenerates is less that they have to cut off. He’s seeing me in another week and we’ll go from there. Then, he’ll decide on just how much he’ll cut off.

On the bright side, I get to keep whatever they take. That finger’s been with me for 43 years. We had some good times together.

I’m thinking of making something cool out of it. Maybe a Christmas ornament or a pendant.

Taking suggestions.

Leon, have you tried soaking it a Ivermectin and zinc solution? Asking for Sabinhunter.

Good thing that wart wasn't on the tip of something else.

Man, my buddy Jeff came in clutch with the custom tee.

Funny thing is, we’re Facebook friends but never met in person. My man drove all the way down from Wichita Falls to deliver the shirt!

I still can't believe a doctor did this to you. Especially a dermatologist. Has he even reached out to you? Hope you get a fat settlement. That's not medical negligence, that's medical malpractice.

Leon, have you ever played that ole gag joke on kids where you cut a hole out in the bottom of a snuff can and tell this wild story how somebody cut their finger off and you found it? Then you open the lid up on the snuff can with your finger in it with cotton balls wrapped all around it with some fake blood on it!!
Well, now you can actually do that!!!!
Sorry brother, that’s all I got!!!
I hope it doesn’t mess up your bogger pickin time!!!

That's pretty bad looking. So what did the doctor have to say about the bone in the end of the finger? I would assume it's what going to get cut off?

I don't know if I could wait for the doctor to take it off, I would probably get tired of that deal after a day or two, and deal with it myself.

You know, maybe go back to the doctor who messed it up. Set up a appointment, then sit down and tell him you want to talk about his work and how you would like a refund. Then pull out a knife and that finger and cut that tip off. Hand it to him and say, "Here you can have this. Can I get a refund?"

I would assume he might be a little nervous about that point.

Ok, so the surgery date is scheduled for this Thursday. They’ll numb the mess out of it and perform the amputation right in the doc’s office.

Wednesday at work, we’re having an early retirement/going away party for my finger tip.

This should be epic….

Aight yall, tomorrow is the big dance, so around 1300, y’all say a little prayer for ya boy. I opted not to get put under, so they’ll do it in the doctors office. They’ll inject my hand with a nerve block and go from there.

That way, I’ll get to keep my finger tip. Still got big plans for it.

I know I should be mad at the dermatologist that did this, but really, I’m not. Never was. From talking to him at my last follow-up, he seemed to feel pretty awful about it. It was just an unfortunate situation that found me. Honestly, I’d rather it happened to me than anyone of y’all.

The hand surgeon that’s doing the amputation is doing a clinical write-up of this case that I agreed to. He researched this and found this case to strangely unique.

Hopefully, other doctors can read up on this and educate themselves so this mistake don’t happen again.

I’m in good spirits. The going away/early retirement party was pretty awesome! My team at work is composed of about 90% Marines. The rest are other vets, so you can kinda imagine how it went down.

I know something good will come out of this, I just can’t put my ‘finger’ on it.

But I’ll get a “grip” on it, so y’all don’t worry.

(Man, that was terrible.)

The whole dang world could use a double dose of that attitude.

Entire in-law side is a bunch of knuckle dragging, drive-in movie screen forehead having, slack jawed Marines. I mean, they’re good people; they just didn’t choose the better branch and join the Army. (all in jest, and I’ll say a prayer the doctor is “on point” tomorrow brother.)

Sorry about the finger, to think I’ve had a wart removal a couple times now I was pretty clueless of the risk involved.
