Default Bass Pro merger halted with Sportsman warehouse

Heck, I did not even realize that one was in the works??? Mergers, consolidations and joint ventures are definitely being observed by regulatory and compliance monitors. I'm sure it will go through soon enough.

I really like our Sportsman's Warehouse here in town. I would hate to see this happen.

BP is gonna corner the market on crap-quality outdoor gear.

Not so sure that is a good thing but would not doubt if it goes through either. Sportsman Warehouse has some good pricing. That may change.

I hope it doesn't go through. Hated that BPS took over Cabela's.

We need health competition.

I hope the merger doesn't go through. Been hearing about it for a little while. PB has ruined Cabela's. I was so glad to see a Cabela's open down here when they did down here. I hated BP. And still do (maybe more so) for what they are doing, and have done, to Cabela's now.

If the proposed merger goes through, you can expect to see PB products and PB pricing in Sportsman's Warehouse. And selective merchandise. Some of the brand merchandise will no longer be available.

How is it even legal? Been hoping for a while sportsman’s doesn’t get acquired but wouldn’t be surprised. Love those stores.

Bass Pro is cornering the market and turning it into a pile of horse poo, we loved Cabelas but since BP took it over it’s slowly turned into a mini mall for cheap junk. Their so big now it’s a moot point and they will crush any smaller companies or buy them out.

With Scheels in the north texas area, absolutely no reason to go to BPS. Acknowledging scheels pricing is a touch higher, but they have the customer service and items in stock.

Any time you see a fast growth business with disruptive pricing, their business model is not long term profitability. It's the retail equivalent of a pump and dump. Operate on razer thin margins(or even at a loss to build "value), then sell out to other people who will do what's necessary to become profitable. It's the tech-start up business model, and it's invading all other sectors.

My biggest beef if BPS website sucks. Like, it doesn’t even work. Can’t search to even see if they Cary what I want.

I do my shopping at academy now.

Fellows, Cabelas was going downhill when BP took over. When **** Cabela died it started to crumble. I agree that BP hastened the process and I certainly don’t want them to get the Sportsman’s Warehouse chain even though there’s not one close to me. Too much of a good thing ain’t a good thing !

The merger was cancelled because the government indicated it would not get approved. I liked the Sportsman's Warehouse store that used to be down here.
Different is not always better. I liked the old Cabela's better. Being a public company they were sunk by an activist investor that pushed them into selling to someone so he could cash out.

Used to like the old cabelas- can’t stand the cheap BP/ cabelas crap! Sportsman’s is great- competitive prices and good quality. Hope it doesn’t happen.
I’ve since moved a year ago, I drive past a cabelas and a BP to shop at scheels!

I’d like to see a scheels pop up in my neck of the woods. I’ve browsed their website a few times and they seem nice. I go to bass pro quite often and don’t really have any complaints. I prefer bass pro over academy.

I lived in an area that only had Sportsmans. I was not impressed and found myself missing Academy. I move back to an area with BP and Academy. Academy has become less impressive and more flash. They're all going down the toilet. I blame Walmart. Lol. I do miss the old Cabelas for sure.

same here but I don't see that the competition is helping. They're all over-priced on their in-store stock, except Academy. Sale prices are others regular prices.

This remindes me of gander mtn in beaumont. When they first opened it was a great looking store with lots of different products. Over time it was reduced to a clothing shop that was overpriced. They were constant in decline and bing over priced. I dislike seeing good places go to trash.

The Ft Worth Cabelas was a great store for a long time. When the original owner died it dropped in quality quite a bit. When BP took it over they went straight down the tubes. I honestly donít see how they even stay in business anymore.

These Hedge fund people are the devils spawn. They have ruined a lot of good businesses and lively hoods of the people that worked for and owned them and sometimes whole communities. Get a rope!

Saw the same thing in Sherman and Texarkana. The one in Sherman went away, bloomin' shame because it was close and I loved the store, they cut their own throat. Not sure if the one in Texarkana is still there or not but I quit stopping there as well when we went through there. Darn shame, used to be good stores.

The Texarkana store is no longer in buisiness. It closed down and was renovated into a large church. It didnít help ganders buisiness when an academy was built right across the loop. Gander was priced out of buisiness imho
