When homicides and violent crime rates are continously trending lower since the 1990s why would we entertain the idea of giving up rights?

We have less homicide and are continuing to improve. This surely isnt what the media keeps trying to tell you, however the government keeps very good records on this matter.

Its insanity, and pure emotion driving this.

The entire premise for why we need these Red Flag laws is a lie in the first place. Data readily available to everyone, especially a legislature with research teams, will tell you this. So why exactly do we need these?
