Default 2021 Houston Astroís Official thread

Another year and another year of Forest Whitley being injured. Frambler out with surgery after a broken finger and looking like TJ surgery for forest.

We did pick up a solid free agent in Odorizzi though. Hopefully we get a Carlitos extension before opening day

What I am waiting to see. If they are, I will not be watching.

I like watching the Rangers & Stros, but not if they are gonna continue with the BLM mantra.

Add me to that list.

Between that crap and the debacle that was last year, my company canceled the season tickets we had. I personally did the trial of FUBO TV so I could stream them. Saw them wearing the BLM crap before one of the early games and promptly canceled FUBO before I was billed.

Basically didnít watch a single game from any team last year, which sucked because I love me some baseball.

Me three.

I hate to hear that news about Whitley. May be time to just let him go. I hadnít heard Framber needed surgery, I thought they were getting second opinions?? And I would trade Correa and save that money for another free agent. Ok, maybe that was reactionary...I wouldnít sign him to a long term contract though

Bregman said first live batting practice for Yordan, first swing he hits a bomb to to right center. Sounds like load management with his knees will be a real thing. No outfield work and some first is possible but will be limited. His bat makes this line up really scary if we can keep him healthy.

I sure enjoyed watching that young man hit the baseball in his rookie year!! Sure hope for the 'stros sake, he can stay healthy... He'd good enough to be a HoF'er as a DH!! I'll be following along to keep up with them via this thread...

Same here. Even if not...not sure I can go crawling back so quickly. Otherwise what can they conclude? That they can use baseball when they need to now to push an immediate agenda, which will cause some viewing loss. But viewing will return the following season?

Reported today that Alvarez should make his debut soon. Bergman still rehabbing his tweaked hamstring, he is at 90% per his words.

What I did last year was to get the MLB package. AND also get a VPN. set your location to atlanta.

You can watch both stros & rangers without blackout.

After they went all in on blm, I cancelled it all.

MLB is a streaming service. Probably get an app for it as there seems to be an app for everything.

VPN is Virtual Private Network. Use it to shield your location. Express VPN is popular, but there are many out there.

Same as above. Express VPN and MLB Network streaming apps. Costly to be honest but still better than paying for cable with 90% of the programming not watched or worth a ****.

Same. Iíve saved quite a bit of money this last year, just by cancelling MLB, NFL, and the rest of the sports channels. I even quit watching college sports over that crap.

Thank you all for letting us know you arnt watching. We have been wondering.

McCullers looked sharp on 4 scoreless innings and Correa hit a monster homer. We get Bregman back in the lineup today

Iíll watch them this year.

Hopefully all this BLM crap is behind us and we just sit down and enjoy some baseball.

Going to be odd with no Springer. I think there is something weird going on within the organization. A lot of good players just leaving without the Astros even attempting to sign them, Springer, Morton, Will Harris, Keuchel, and Marwin. I guess they saw the writing on the wall and wanted to get out before the **** show happened.

This is my hope as well. I watched a few of the middle innings yesterday. Saw El Pina go yard and several pitchers mow down the Nats hitters including Mr Soto.

They made offers to Springer and Keuchel. Marwin signed a contract that he hasnít played up to yet. Will Harris was good, but time to get younger in the pen. You can only pay so many people, not a sign of the times. Simple economics that the value wasnít there on most of those guys because of age and whatís behind them still on the roster. Morton is the only one that I regret not signing but he was having arm issues late in the last year of his contract.

I mean if you call a World Series win, ALCS birth, loss in game 7 of World Series, and another ALCS game 7 loss in the last 4 seasons as slipping I donít know what to say

Yall think they get a deal done with Correa before the season starts? IF he stays healthy all year and produces at his normal level someone will pay a mint for him.

Lindor, Baez, Story and Seagar are all also FAs after this season.

I do too. To me Correa has emerged from the group as the/a leader.

I wonder what the offer was to Springer vs what he ended up getting from the BJs.

If Correa will take a 5-6 year deal, I think the Astros sign him. If he is looking for 10, I don't think it happens.

It should get it done, but I think it is unlikely the Astros offer a contract that is that long.

He might go for that if you give him some opt-outs in years 4 or 5-8. He has shown he has problems staying healthy, if he signs a deal with an opt-out after year 4, and performs like he thinks he can, he can sign another big contract when heís 30.

I've read that Yuli is back to normal weight range this season. Apparently he gained around 20# during Covid last year. We need him back to 2019 production levels with no springer.

No surgery for Frambler. Huge news, ginger is healing much more aggressively than expected. Bregman went 0-3 but had a home robbed off of DeGrom in his second at bat. Glad to have some positive news. Verlander also threw his first pitch since surgery. He stayed in December he plans on pitching this year. So we will see.

Wouldnt that be something if he actually came back in Sept to join the squad if they are in playoff position? He would be a great opener or bullpen weapon.

I canít find specifics either. Iíve seen 4 for $40mm and 5 for $80mm lol. Quite a big gap, so Iím curious what the final will be. I think Rosenthal reported it as being already agreed on and closed. But thatís Rosenthal...

Lol both those I saw were fake accounts trying to go viral. I havenít seen any numbers yet. If they can close out soon that gives them a week to focus on Carlitos.
