Head shot didn't work.... yet...

We rarely see or even get pigs on cam at our lease. I think we've shot 4 in 2 years. (Bow only lease).
A group of young pigs showed up on cam alone, about 2 weeks ago. No sow.
Well, I shot one last week.
Back up here yesterday and mama pig has joined em now.
She's skinny as a rail and sporting a heck of a hair cut.
I guess she had a good reason for laying low....
Looks to be a head shot that glanced off ???
Didn't kill her immediately, but might yet. She's looking pretty poor. But goes to show you how tough these critters are!
I'll definitely whack her if I see her (or one of her pigs).

Yeah, that's terrible....but there are a lot of folks around here that advocate gut shooting them so they run off. Is that any different?
If we are going to kill it it needs to be a quick as possible. I'm sure who ever shot her ( if that's indeed what happened) they were trying to kill quick

Yep that one needs to go. I bet she's got a headache like no other. I like shootin hogs as much as the next guy but that's a bad deal there.

True that. Shooting them in the head is usually a one shot kill type of thing. On the other hand shooting them in the guts on purpose.....ehhh....yeah not so much. I've goofed up and shot ones jaw off before but it got one or two more for good measure. I'm sure whoever shot that one didn't expect to wound it. It definitely would have surprised me to see one recover from that. Tough son of a guns.

I don’t see a bullet taking that much hide off without doing lethal damage. Maybe it is an older wound that is rotting though. Looks like road rash more than a bullet to me.

Who knows though...looks like it hurts. Hopefully you can put her down soon.
