I like my 6.5CM and it's become my favorite round for deer, hogs and other things that need killing. I like the 129SST bullet and it hasn't failed to kill what I've shot with it. It's a fun and very accurate rifle.

However having said that if I were going on an Elk hunt my .270 Weatherby MK5 Fibermark would be going with me.

I have a lightweight 6.5 "mountain rifle" that I take on pretty much every mule deer hunt Ive been on. I did kill a cow elk with it, but I get a little nervous about taking it for elk. They can soak up a lot of lead from much bigger rounds, and theyre not fun trail down into the bottom of a canyon the opposite way from camp.

Well tonight the 6.5 claimed its newest victim. About a 150 pound boar. She seems to be happy with the rifle so that's all that matters in the end. She did mention that it needs a better trigger
