One piece of advice...add some predator guard/funnels on those wood duck boxes or they'll have a hard time hatching a clutch.
      Good advice.

I applied Tanglefoot on the poles...it's an extremely sticky long lasting insect barrier. TPWD did some trials and found they were very effective at preventing predators from climbing up to the box.

              Living the dream.
I was showing this to my wife and when she saw the pictures she realized she taught your daughter in the 8th grade.

We still have to work out the details.
Good point on the zebras, sounds awesome!

Thanks for all the kind comments guys.

I snuck up there today to inspect the electric gate and the dirt work. They are ready to pour the slab if it ever dies out for 3 or 4 days.

They installed a US Automatic Patriot. Gate opens pretty fast and works good so far....we will see how it holds up.

I did some fishing but also took the chainsaw to hinge cut some willows for more fish cover.

Ended cutting a dozen trees into the water.

Fishing was slow....bluebird day and all but did catch 5 of these gems along with 8 largemouth.

Here is a better look at the divided canals.
There are several hundred of yards of shoreline to fish on this one stretch.

Better look at the beaver dam. I actually caught a SM off of it today.

I heard somewhere that cutting down willows near tanks could cause damage to the tank?
