Always carried, always will, have never open carried, but I may start.

Why would you go open? Open makes you the first target.

Maybe they think it looks cool or something. I don't get it. 1st time carrying a gun. Who knows, I don't get the thought process. Other than what I just stated.
But its legal, so enjoy. Get that matching holster to match your boots or new balance hehe

I'm not sure I would...."may" being the keyword there.
I see it all the time up here in my neck of the woods though.
When it's legal, I'm sure more people will start, maybe a bunch will start, who knows.
If it becomes fairly common though, gonna be a bunch of first targets.
Also if something goes down, there are a lot of variables that will have to come into play, for the perp to instantly know I have a gun.
What if I walk in and his attention is elsewhere, what if I'm seated and weapon isn't visible, what if I'm on the next aisle, what if I'm in the bathroom, what if someone else is standing between me and them and there is no visual of the weapon, etc., etc.
Have to be a pretty specific scenario in which I'm identified as the first target the instant something pops off.

That’s what I’ve always felt.If I have to pull it out I want it to be a total surprise and have the upper hand.I also don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable packing an exposed gun.I typically don’t carry on my person but if I’m in a bad area or possibly expecting nonsense or get a bad vibe I’ll put a tool in my pocket.

Always carry always ready for these fools to try . Sucks we have to stay ready no matter where we live , work or decide to worship but that’s today’s world . Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Nothing wrong with open carry. I hope more people do it. It’s not my preference, but i i will not let that argument get in the way of someone else freedoms.

I haven’t read up on it, but imagine it will make officers jobs harder.

Most cops i talked to about guns didnt really respect my right to own certain firearms. Was talking about an ak47 at work and a captain told me it was a cop killer gun. Why did i have it?

Told him its for squirrels.

Peace officers are just people. Some believe in the 2nd A, some believe that it’s just for them. I’ve met more of the former than the latter, but I haven’t spent much time around big liberal ran cities either. Not my cup of tea.

I think that some may believe (and may be correct) that open carry may cause a perp to second guess his/her current plan. I.e. that could be an undercover LEO, could be security, could just be a citizen, etc. Perhaps they see that an pick another target. Or perhaps the shooter sees a person holding the door open at church open carrying and decides this isn't the place he/she wants to try a mass shooting today.

Or, conversely, the perp goes straight at the open carrier.

It think it's probably 50/50 and wouldn't want to give up the deterrent factor for prohibiting a shooting in the first place rather than waiting for it to start and responding.

No, it's purely ignorance. This arsehole has likely never even been in a fist fight.

But be careful, he'll get all titted up and wreck your sales threads if his/her diaper gets full.

Honestly, I don't think it will change much for most of us that carry regularly. I hope it prompts more folks to carry and get comfortable with their firearms.

Speed for one thing and comfort for another.

Can you show me some factual information on your opinion? Because that hasn’t borne out in the other states that have been open carry for years.

I guarantee you a criminal would attack someone who they thought didn’t have a gun (concealed) vs someone they see with one.

So, why do you prefer open vs concealed? Now, stay focused.

Speed? Lol. A guy walks up to you and puts two holes in you before you know it or are you going to draw on everyone that comes within ten feet of you. Lol. If I'm a crook, I'm going to case the store for example, and shoot the biggest threat first.

Guys, calm down. We should all rejoice that our gun rights are getting restored.
While yall are arguing over BS people are trying to ban all guns.

It's us against them. We are on the same team. We are also allowed to have differnet opinions. Relax and think about how other people in Hong Kong are using rocks to fight a tyrannical govt

While I agree with you, people spew this first target BS about open carry and not one person has been able to back it up with facts.

It’s tiresome. I want somebody to put up or shut up.

It comes down to personality. There are guys that get up in the morning and strap all kinds of stuff to their belt before going to work and guys that can't stand carrying anything even in their pockets. Open carrying for the former would be comfortable for those guys while concealing a small gun somewhere will work better for others.

You're probably going to be too busy scratching lotto tickets and checking out the solid 4 behind the counter to notice the perp anyway. Carry the way that's the most comfortable, whether you're a fudd with a 1911 under your sweater or an internet navy seal with your drop rig and 5.11 gear.

True. Decades ago I was hauling vehicles for car dealers out of Wisconsin with 2 retired cops. We were all carrying. We were in line at a gas station/convenience store and getting irritated because it was taking kind of long. Meanwhile we are talking and laughing, by the time we get to the counter the lady says she has shut down the register that she just got robbed by an armed gunman. We were looking at her like she was joking but she wasn't. This was in Houston in the early 80's. We had no idea what happened.

What many don’t seem to realize is that bad guys are lazy and want everything easy. They don’t want a confrontation. They don’t want a fight, especially one that could get themselves hurt or killed. If they see someone, cop or civilian, carrying a firearm, they will search out safer, greener pastures.

With that being said, I will continue to carry, what I call, semi open but the law calls it open carry. In other words, my weapon is on my hip and my shirttail is out and covering the pistol but it prints heavily and is generally halfway exposed when I sit down or ride my motorcycle.

Same here. When I carry, it's a Tauras 709 Slim, and it doesn't print much at all, or sometimes its in my pocket.

Personal preference. I was happy when open carry became a thing so I didn't have to worry anymore about printing or my shirt riding too high. Semi open...I like that term. Basically concealed, but if it becomes unconcealed, oh well.
