Default Simone Biles mental issues

I guess she is out of the olympics for now. Hope she gets well soon, noticed the last few days she looked very nervous like she was having panic attacks

Years and years of training and she gets hurt on game day.

How would you feel?

The young lady was sexually abused by her team doctor along with many others. I imagine after that going public she faces issues on many fronts.

She is physically fine per her. It is a mental block. She needs to get right in the head for the all around and hang it up on a high note.

That girl has a lot of pressure on her to be perfect. I'm sure it wears her down. The title of GOAT is a heavy thing to tote around and try to live up to.

As long as people continue to be born, in my opinion, there will never be a GOAT. At some point in time their achievements will be surpassed. Maybe the greatest of our time, but never the greatest of all time.

The US gymnastics team said the press wrote that wrong - not mental issues but medical issues.

Not everyone can be as tough as Kerri Strug. Will probably never witness a gymnast endure what she did to help her team again.

Shes the face of the US Olympic team...I cant imagine the pressure that puts on a young person. Phelps was outspoken after he retired about the same thing. He had his struggles as well.

She's a tremendous athlete and a great representation of The USA! I'm sure she's under insane amounts of pressure and to injure herself this early in the competition is heartbreaking. Prayers for her strength and healing.

Didn't realize we had so many Olympic gold medalists on this site that completely understand the pressure she is under.

I hope she gets it all worked out.

Her direct quote says she didn’t have an injury but is “dealing with a few things”.
With the amount of pressure she’s under, no doubt some of it is mental

Ya, Mary Lou had just a tad bit more pressure on her performing with that broken foot and still going for it.

Wish they never called Simone the goat, what an insult to soooo many great's that came before her.

I agree. She's seemingly a good person, role model to many, and obviously one heck of an athlete and has certainly worked hard buuutttt.... somehow you would think she would dig down and find the mental fortitude to compete. I mean, she had a leotard designed with a Goat on it, she interviewed and implied she didn't think she could be beaten, and everyone else there competing has pressure on them. I wish her the best, but she's in her prime and the true greats find a way. She's just pulling a LeBron now. But I'm an out of shape 41 year old behind a keyboard so what do I know. Good luck to the rest of the U.S.A athletes there competing...well those that actually like the US anyway.

I read the article and it said she injured her leg after a botched vault - I also saw a slow mo vid of her doing a triple double and she truly defies the laws of gravity ! Hope this works! https://youtu.be/CmRHT4LdyMk

You think that might be the persona she wants to put off to over come the trauma of rape? Just speculating but I would think that (in front of the world) along with being told you are the best in world most of your life could take its toll on your noggin.

That young lady has lived her whole life in the spotlight, and more combined gold metals than any other gymnast. I really hope she pulls it together. Nice to see an young lady out there instead of all young 13+ year old teenagers.

It could. But the thing is she chooses to be there in front of the spotlight. I'm not discounting she has issues or has faced trauma of some sort, most of us in life have. I'm saying she refers to herself as the goat in her sport and accepted and competed to be on a TEAM in an event she KNEW would be highly publicized. I applaud her for giving the real reason and hope she gets better while at the same time saying she should have made this decision a while back to allow someone else to fulfill their dream.

Simone Biles: ‘I feel like I’m also not having as much fun - and this Olympic Games I wanted it to be for myself and it felt like I was still doing for other people - and that hurts my heart that doing what I love has been taken away from me.’

What in the hell does this even mean? So it is about her and not the team she was competing with I guess.

She's a top level elite athlete with the weight of the gymnastics world on her shoulders. Being 24 is getting on up there in women's gymnastics, so she probably is dealing with some burnout, I'd imagine. Hope she gets better and is back out there for her team soon.

More media garbage.

Gymnasts are some of the toughest athletes out there.
I seriously doubt she lost it mentally.

My guess is that with the weight of the entire USA on her shoulders she gave it a run. If she pulls out before competition started due to injury vs. going for it for the sake of the team. Neither worked.

No lie. This girl has more world championships and Olympic medals than probably everyone who posted above combined has in participation ribbons. I don’t follow gymnastics and she and I are not on a first name basis but I’ve never heard a negative thing about her and she has always presented herself in a very professional manner anytime I’ve seen her. She’s going to get a pass on this one from me.

Who knows what's going in her noggin...it's such a bizarre olympics & while I'm enjoying watching, it doesn't feel the same & somewhat awkward. The lack of fan noise / empty seats (she mentioned this), everyone on the beach with a mask while watching surfing?? Good gosh, how many have been booted from the games for testing positive & not even sick. I seriously doubt I would have made the trip as an athlete with all this nonsense. See ya in 2024.

Hope she's ok & can regroup...it appears she has the support of her mates which I hope is the case.

Not a little girl. A Grown *** woman. Men AND women need to learn to pick up their cross and walk up that hill. When you have people relying on you, you don’t get to quit.
