My sister, who is a home builder, was just told that her shipment of HardiePlank, which was supposed to have been here weeks ago, will be delayed another four months.

When weighing the pros and cons of this against other siding, all other things being relatively equal, it might be wise to add “availability” to the list of qualifications.

Why would you need to double nail hardie? Both are fine products. I think hardie will out last smart in every form. Don't think you can go wrong but I just built a house and it is all hardie. I never thought twice about it.

I sell both and put Hardie on the gables and dormers (everywhere else is stone) of the home I built 5 years ago. Smart is a very good product but I wanted the better paint retention and burn resistance that Hardie provides.
