Default Truck door AR/SBR/rifle rack

I thought this up over a year and a half ago after trying to find something online. I got tired of a rifle sitting in my lap. I mocked up 2 different designs and finally got around to building it. Total cost of metal rods and flat bar from Tractor Supply is under $45 I believe it was.

It was a little time consuming with measuring twice, heating/bending/cutting, but it is rock solid!! Itíll easily hold my LR-308 with suppressor, but it works best with a suppressed 16Ē barreled rifle or shorter SBR. It uses the same bolt that holds the door interior to the door amd the weight is distributed on 2 pieces of flat bar in the floor of the bottom door pockets. Itís also only touches the door at those 3 points. Itís since been painted black and no has a rubber washing machine hose wrapped around the round bar to protect the rifles/optics from any accidental bumps while driving through the pastures.

Here it is holding my 12.5Ē 6.5 Grendel SBR with 6Ē suppressor. Iíve also can move the ďholding armĒ forwards and backwards to accommodate longer barreled rifles.

You know itís a Tundra!! 2008 CM TRD SR5 4x4. Just his 200k miles last week.

Johnny Dangerr - you are correct! It gets washed on my birthday each year!

I donít know the first thing about patenting, but it has crossed my mind... But, I believe the 2nd or 3rd round of building one I could make it in a couple hours at the maximum with a couple more (and the right) tools.

I agree with the notion to patent it.

No sense in someone else making money off your idea.

From the research Iíve done you would probably be better off just making and selling as many as you can before someone copyís your design and starts producing them. Even with a patent all someone has to do is change up the design just enough to avoid your patent. Give it a cool name and get it trademarked and run with it! If you grow too fast and need help producing them hit me up

Sorry for the late response!! Been baseballing with 2 boys on different teams!!

Hereís without a rifle...

In this position the rifle is almost vertical and works well with my 16Ē bolt action with suppressor. Holds it about a 25 degree angle.

Here Iíve moved the rifle hook back that will accommodate a longer rifle. You can also remove the rubber piece on the left of the rifle hook to further angle your rifle (around 50 degreeís)

Flat bar base for stability. Itíll probably support a 40 lb rifle! The 2nd flat bar base is attached in the front pocket of the door as well.

And under the carpet is where it uses the factory bolt for the door handle. It has about 4.5Ē piece of flat bar.
