You better not ever get into fly fishing. I've tied all my own for the last 57 years and have a truck full of material I'll never use.

That’s awesome, looks like a fun hobby. One of my favorite plastics I used back in the day was Paul Browns Sea Devil. Similar to the devil eye but a bit shorter and no eyes. Would be cool to get those molds and make your own.

I have some of his personel favorite- purple with a white tail- that he gave me years ago. He originally called them Sluggo's and got sued, so he called them Sea Devils.

Hands down Sea Devils are my favorite plastic. Iíve fished them in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas from Galveston to Brownsville.

Still have about 30 purple with white tails and a pretty good batch of some other colors. Try and pick them up any time I see some for sale.

The big paddletails are 7'' long. It's a silicone hand pour mold.

We made our own chigger craws for awhile. Made a plaster mother mold ( two part) and it was cool for awhile. But got to be a messy pain in the aR$$. We had baits ( bags and bags of them) and parts all over the house. Didn't see any improvement over original ones, and got tired of messing with it. So now we just buy them again. It was cool doing it, for awhile though.

Everybody makes a chartreuse tail. That lure catches more trout and reds for me than any other I make. It's all about contrast and nothing is more contrasting than black and white. One kid I make lures for does want the chartreuse tail on his too.

Kevin, your doing an outstanding job sir!

But contrasting colors? I have a challenge for you. How bout a Fire Salamander (or Fire Lizard for bass fishing? I used to get one like this pattern back when I was growning up, and into my twenties. But can't find them anywhere now . Bass absolutely hate them enough just to kill-em. Here in north Texas, we are on the edge of a natural breading population. It gets more dense as you head north into OK and the central US.

I love this black and yeller color, and so do the bass!

If you could get the colors down to a 50/50 mix, you'd have a killer lizard!

I'ma like-n that Ghost shad. That would be a killer on the stripers and sandies.

And these too! Especially #2, 3, 4, and 5. Those would be great in the river I fish.

It's still on the to do list. I've made several molds with plaster of Paris and fiberglass but so far I'm not happy with the results. It's something that I'm still perfecting, there's several that are not made anymore that I'd like to reproduce.

You are doing a great job. The colors look good.

There are some big swim baits out on the market for bass fishing. The problem with the real big ones is that you don't want to fish all day with the rods it takes to use them. They are heavy chunks of plastic and require stout rods to fish 'em. Even the biggest swim baits are still small compared to some of the fish I've seen big trout eat. You could make a 15" swim bait and a trout could eat it.

Cap those are the questions that keep me up at night. I've made soft plastics to 7'' and caught trout on them but they're heavy and hit the water like a bomb. Shallow water trout don't like that, I've had more success in the surf with the big baits, they're not as spooked. The 6'' is more manageable for weight vs buoyancy. And yes, you don't want to throw it for long. All that said, wood is my next option. We'll see where that goes.
