Default Mega-stout box blind

A retired friend of mine has had some recent medical issues and the doc told him to keep busy as a form of rehab and mental focus. He knew I was needing a box blind for my Terrell County lease aND offered to build it for me. He began this past week and got the base done today. This baby is EXTRA stout and gonna be a tank. Maybe a little overkill but that's just fine with me!

It's gonna get laid over on a trailer and driven to its spot and then stood up. She's gonna stay there!

Nice! But I couldn't hunt out of it with that cross bracing not being exactly the same on all four sides!

Need something that heavy out in Terrell County to keep the wind from blowing it over. I couldn't tell you how many times I've had to pick up and repair a blown over box blind at our place in Sanderson.

This is the "don't flip" method used in the Terrell County stands that my builder has previously made aND set up. Said it's fool proof. We shall see.

Holy crap! I thought I over-engineered our last gun blind. This will definitely last a very long time. What are using on the outside (I.e. Smartside panels, plywood)? I recommend the Smartside panels, they are awesome and last forever. This thing is going to be around 800lbs or more once it's all done. Well done sir!

1/2" plywood on outside.... Gonna seal and rubber spray all edges and give a super thick paint job with 40 year outdoor a paint.

Shooting bench going in now. I shoot specialty pistols off of bipod so this bench will allow me to shoot my pistols from the bipod and rear shooting bag.

The window base is 39" from the floor. The bench is 3.25" below the window base. The window when installed has a .75" lip that will add. The whole stand designed to shoot my Specialty Pistols from and to provide least amount of surface area to catch wind out west.

Picked her up today and brought her back to Hallettsville for painting. Got her primed and all seams sealed with Thru-the-roof and rubber-seal. Will paint tomorrow if weather allows.
