Default Hawk

Normally when I try to get a picture of a Hawk on a tree limb or fence post, they fly off just before I take the shot. This guy just sat there until I got right up next to him on the road. I took several shots and drove off and he never flew.

I like watching hawks or any bird of prey.

I am going to guess, since it did not fly off, when you pointed a camera at it, it's a female.

Adult Cooperís hawk. Due to the season, not any birds less than 9 months bold. Juvies tend to be less colorful since they havenít developed adult plumage.

Agree with you Ed, though not much of a red shoulder. No cap like an adult coopers has.
