Shed hunting when grass, etc. is all brown, and mornings are cold enough so any snakes out and about are moving slow. Cool pics.

Found a few more this week. It’s alllllmost time to start mushroom hunting so I’m hoping to pick a few more up when I’m in the woods picking.

Lot of boot leather goes into finding sheds! I guarantee I average over a mile of walking per shed.

You guys that are finding/posting 15+, is that in one day!? Are you finding most of them on trails, bedding areas?

Driving roads, senderos, pipelines. Walking around feed pens and water sources. 100 yard circle around them. That is where we find 90% of them.

Did some walking and picked up a few this weekend. My watch said I did 19.1 miles on Saturday and 12.6 miles on Sunday. Between my brother and I, we picked up right at 100. The crazy (and weird) part is that less than 10 of those were fresh sheds. Almost all of them were old, even though most of our deer have already shed this year. I guess they went and dropped them all at their summer homes. Of the fresh ones we found, they were specific deer we were looking for, so that was nice. Hopefully I can pick up more fresh ones through turkey season.

I got the numbers! Last year he scored 210”. This year 199” and would have broke the 200 mark with the other drop. I gave him an 18” spread.

Here was my haul from this weekend. A little over 20ish miles walked and only 2 fresh ones and one relatively recent deadhead (spike). One was a deer I was looking for so that was good. Everything else was old.

That makes a little over 50 miles walked through trails, fields, creeks, and through the woods, over 120 sheds picked up and less than 15 of them have been from this year. I really wish I knew where they decided to drop them all this year. Lol.

Cool, How did ya'll treat the broken leg?
I can never get one to tolerate a cast or splint.
Nice deer too.

Walking along the creek this weekend catching crawdads, tadpoles, etc... my oldest boy found this one on his own, his first shed and a pretty good one. We've been walking the creek the last few nights and along trails trying to find the other side with no luck unfortunately

Not nearly as impressive as some of these on here, but I found this year and last year's editions of this buck within 300 yds of each other, on the same fence line. Talk about a consistent pattern! Unfortunately he is a mature deer that isn't progressing and is not legal width.

Found a lot of smaller ones as well as one side of one of our target bucks for next year. Scored 133" based on one side and thats missing his 11th point (not pictured). Should be a good one next year.
