I use this, but use only Allegro Spicy, cayenne, Worcestershire, liquid smoke, onion powder, garlic powder and lots of black pepper. Many people say itís the best theyíve ever had.

Trying my first attempt this week, but on a smoker instead of the dehydrator. Will eventually try it with turkey as well.

Have a batch marinating right now.

Tried this last year when I first got my dehydrator with beef. Time for the real deal with venison!

Are you using any additional curing salt added to marinade mixture?

I sent Smart a message a few years ago before I tried this recipe. He said there is ample amounts of salt already in the marinade, and he has never added any.

Cut up 22 pounds of trimmings into jerky strips last Thursday. Decided to go with Jason's recipe........followed it verbatim. After a 24 hour soak, to the dehydrators it all went. With the weather, (cool and damp) it took approximately 10 hours. But I must admit I cut mine a tad thicker than the recipes recommended width.

Jason, the jerky turned out extremely well, great flavor! And not to mention, much simpler than my old go to.

Appreciate you sharing.

Do you keep it in the freezer after itís made? Happy Reason I ask is my stepson is in the army and he is on rotation over seas so it will take a couple weeks in the mail system to get to him.

Same here but I had to tweak the recipe. I only use the Allegro hot n spicy marinade to do mine. Me and the wife like ours a little more spicy and a little less smokey.

I do just because. Iím not really sure how long it will last outside of one because it never lasts long once I pull out a bag anyway. Iíve shipped it to folks but itís never taken over a week.

Thank you Smart. Iíve been playing with your recipe and using Hickory Smoke, Hot & Spicy, and Honey Garlic. Thrown in some Dr. Pepper and dusted it with Lemon Pepper and weíre right on the heals of Buccees Lemon Pepper jerky. Some fresh cracked pepper and garlic powder were tossed in as well. Excellent sir. I was combining soy, worcestershire, liquid smoke and spices before this and this has been much better.

dehydrator versus oven - I've been using oven. While my jerky is ok, the dehydrator looks better. Is my rational correct or does it matter which is used to dry it?
